Mosquito fighter/bomber by
Ed Majden
The Mosquito fighter/bomber had rather exceptional performance for an
aircraft of that type. Even faster than the early Spitz! It was fast with
relatively long range and was used as a pathfinder, night fighter, recon,
and insurgent bomber. Was it ever considered as an escort fighter for...

It all began at NASA.... by

These guys are flying 50,000 miles around the world crossing six
continents and 50-countries in TRIKES! Trikes are amazing aircraft
that Francis M. Rogallo originally designed back in the early 60's to
enable U.S. spacecraft to safely return to Earth. The type of 4-stroke
engines on these trikes...

About when did a US/CCCP war become suicidal? by
james_anatidae
I was wondering at about what point that the United States going to war with
the Soviet Union become an almost certain act of mutual destruction. I'm
assuming it sometime in 1960's or 70's, since what I've seen of the Soviet
nuclear capability before that point doesn't seem to be all...

EA-18G vs ES-3 by
Thomas Schoene
R. David Steele wrote:
I have been out of the loop for a while. Hope that you folks
might bring me up to speed. What happened to the ES-3? At the
time it looked like it could do the SIGINT/ELINT mission as it
had room for the gear plus a crew of four. Made it a good
replacement for...

Looks Like the AF Is Wanting Survivable Support Aircraft by
sid
There were some interesting articles this past week. First one is
"New, Stealthy Aircraft Eyed for Special Ops Forces". According to
Janes this offering is apparently coming out of a classified
initiative:

Friday 27 Feb 2004
We heard from the Dutch F-16s today; so they are still TDY at
Cecil.
The exercises of the USS JFK acft continued; more Hawkeye
callsigns than normal. So much comms traffic that it is nearly impossible to
log.
I am just posting some of it now.

"Priceless" in Afghanistan by
BUFDRVR
kind of doubt a loaded B1B could fly supersonic that low. Max speed is
something like mach 1.2. Sounds like bull**** to me.
Sure they can. This is not the first (or, I'm sure last) time a Bone has done a
super sonic pass as a show of force over Afghanistan.

How many JSOWs does an F15E-229 carry? by
Tetsuji Rai
Title says it all. I'm playing a flight sim, Falcon4. Recently a new
version was out. In the previous version, F15E can carry up to 8 JSOWs
(AGM154a), however in the new version it can carry only 2 JSOWs. Which is
correct? It is a big problem to me as an F15E fan.
Thanks in advance.

IAF pilots revolt, refuse to fly MiG-21 by

Introduced in 1963? Well, not as old as the B-52 or other U.S.
models, but you'd think the IAF would have some newer planes by now.
"The MiG-21 is not known for its radar or hauling capabilities, nor
