MXSMANIC is our village idiot by
Mortimer Schnerd, RN
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Is it not time to move beyond trying to spar with the witless? He can't afford
to fly so he tries to convince us we can't either. Small aircraft are beneath
his contempt.... however he has no ability or experience in them. Large
aircraft are more his forte apparently,...

CAA JAA SEP Class rating renewal after 2 years by
Ingo Wolf
Hi,
does anybody know the procedure for the renewal
of an CAA JAA SEP Class rating after 2 years.
Is it enaugh if the FI signs for the check flight in the
Class rating within the second year or do I have to
deal some way with the CAA?

Air Chart Systems - PIREP by
Andrew Sarangan
Recently I purchased the VFR Air Chart Systems booklets. It comes in
two parts for the East and West regions. Although it seems to be a very
handy format, I was more than a little irked that it was not an exact
reproduction of the NACO charts. They had arbitrarily decided to crop
the charts around...

The subsidies to AIRLINES are massive by
Steve Foley
Skylune posted AIP grant information trying to pass it off as a GA subsidy.
Airport Improvement Program (AIP)
The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) provides grants to public
agencies---and, in some cases, to private owners and entities---for the
planning and development of public-use airports that...

best credit card airline
Hello
I'm looking for a credit card that rewards airline miles and I was
wounding if you would give me your recommendation.
I don't mind paying an annual fee
I pay my cards off every month so the APR is not an issue
I want the most miles I can get.
I want no black outs...

The subsidies to GA are MASSIVE by
Skylune
Now that I have again provided the amount of annual funding deriving from
GA fuel taxes (including AV GAS and Jet A), compare that to 2005 capital
grants to airports by looking at the ACTUAL 2005 DATA below. (Note that
these figures DO NOT include the $150K annual operating subsidy that many
GA...

Finding CTAF & PCL freq in a Garmin by
[email protected]
I thought I was frustrated by Garmin not clearly indicating CTAF's in
their database, but found out that the frustration was due to my not
knowing where to look. While maybe no one else will suffer from this
problem, I'll take the risk of exposing my error in case someone else
may benefit.
On my...

Lightspeed QFRXCc ANR Headset Review by
Nik
Got my QFRXCc headset 3 days ago and now I tested it for 5 hours in a
citabria.
As a young pilot, the Bose X semmend like an awesome headset however
$1000 is just too much money to spend for me. I looked around and found
the QFRXCc for $230 retail! I finally decided that in case I wasn't
happy with...

NW_Pilot's Trans-Atlantic Flight in a 172 by
Jay Honeck
This group's own NW_Pilot has asked if I would be interested in helping
him document his incredible ferry-flight from Bangor, Maine, to Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia. Talk about the trip of a lifetime!

Ferrying Aircraft by
[email protected]
Well, being short of cash to fly with and reading about NW_PILOT's trip
of a lifetime ferrying a 172 across the Atlantic has left me wondering:
Is a commerical pilot certificate required to ferry an airplane for
someone? I think the answer is yes, even if I'm not being paid to fly,
if they pick up...

FAA address change by
Matt Whiting
You just have to love the FAA. My address recently changed from a rural
route address to a road address to comply with our new county 911
system. I have an official letter saying that my new address is Cross
RD. I entered that into the FAA online address change form and it
changed it to...

Rotation by
Mxsmanic
Do real aircraft abruptly pitch upward on take-off during rotation, or
is this an artifact of my simulator? I find that I must put the stick
forward slightly as soon as the nose rises, or I risk a tail strike.
This is especially true on small aircraft, such as the Baron 58.
Large jets seem to do...

Flying near Boston by

Hi folks.
I've recently moved to the Boston area after getting my Private
certificate down in New Jersey. I'm probably going to fly out of
Hanscom (I've flown in there before and know it's busy).
I'd love to hear from people who fly in the area and have advice on fun
flights to do locally -...

OT - Movie Night at the Inn, 4-month review by

Last spring you guys helped me pick out a high-def projector system,
with the intention of showing aviation movies in the hotel, for free,
every Tuesday night. Armed with your advice, I converted our meeting
room into a small, 25-seat theater, with surround-sound, for a very low
cost -- right...
