jsmith
Is anyone out there mentoring another pilot?
I have a friend I have been mentoring going on four years now.
Today we were reviewing aircraft and operating procedures for a Turbo
Arrow IV she will be taking on a trip next weekend.
Also, we reviewed avionics setups for instrument approaches.
We...

Looking for JPI's older software to download engine monitor data to a PC by
Peter R.
Somehow I have misplaced my copy of the older JPI PC software that allows
me to download data from a JPI EDM-700 monitor to my laptop. I called JPI
for a replacement copy, but they no longer offer the older version. I was
told that the new version does not allow the data to be converted to...

Thermal Conductivity , Ice & Me (or You, too) by
Montblack
(Greenwavepilot, the OP, just posted this over on rec.aviation.student)
You are missing something. I typed the wrong temperature. The overnight low
was 30*F, not 40. So, it WAS below freezing for a period of time.
So one mystery is solved.
Now about those black wings at night...

Folding wings by
mindenpilot
OK, you have to humor me on this.
I'm not talking about anything unrealistic (like Moller's skycar, etc).
But what would prevent a design (even low performance/ultra light to start)
that would allow a pilot to fly into an airport, then fold up his wings and
cruise down surface streets at 45mph?
It...

2005 rec.aviation fly-in by
David Wenk
Would like some info on the rec.aviation fly-in at Pinckneyville - is it
happening this year for sure? Also, if there's anybody out there who knows
PJY really well, could you get in touch? We'd like to do an article on the
field for Flyguides and AOPA.
Thanks a lot,
David Wenk

Operations near border by
Slip'er
Where do the FARs address operations near the border? I do not plan to
cross the border, but I vaguely remember a note on a chart that said to
contact FSS if operating in the vicinity of the border. I'd like to know
the exact regulatory reference...
Thanks,

Planes at Hanscom face turbulence caused by higher fees by

The cost of flying at Hanscom Airport is soaring skyward.
As of Feb. 1, Massport has raised several fees and charges. Some
represent double-digit increases and the flying community is concerned.
"Hanscom has gone from being among the bargains in the area to one
of the most expensive airports for...
