And our rec.aviation get-together was a rousing success,
I'm hoping snagged the beer before some EAA lineguy did... :)
Random thoughts, because I'm tired - haven't unpacked yet...
I did find the "abandoned" beer cooler - thank you Jay. And please thank

Lightspeed -- Was:Oshkosh 2003 Redux by
Jack McAdams
Everything was trimmed!! (-;
Counterpoint to the Lightspeed QA 'issue':
I have a 20XL and a 30XL. Both have performed flawlessly from the day
I got them. Maybe I'm just lucky, but that never happens! To be fair,
I don't listen to music in the air so I am unqualified to comment on
the audio...

What is the proper length?
Since my old one departed in flight, I have nothing to measure the new one

YAGQ (Yet Another Gyro Query) by
[email protected]
It looks like the AI on my Cherokee finally bought the farm. My
friend who just flew it on a cross-country said it laid over and died on
the way.
So, the question is, used, overhauled, or new? Any thoughts on
this? Brands to get/not get? I'm leaning away from overhauling the gyro,
since I...

Software for pilots by
Charles Talleyrand
I just found a program called RPMsound. It listens to your engine and tells
you the RPM. I used this to verify my tach. It comes in versions for the
Windows PC and the PocketPC. http://www.tunelab-world.com/rpmsound.html
I also have a weight and balance spreadsheet in my PocketPC.
I have some...

Av Map -- An absolutely stunning color GPS by
Jay Honeck
http://aviation.c-map.com/ProductInfo/AVMAP/ekp3c.asp
Mary and I picked up one of these things in OSH, and I'm absolutely stunned
that there has been virtually NO discussion of this almost unbelievable
"hand-held" here on the groups.
When my Airmap 300 started to get hinky, I started down the...

US N-number a/c abroad by
Joseph Brown
While I was watching the news from an international satellite, they showed a
single-engine Piper that made an emmergency crash-landing on a highyay in
Greece. When I saw it's registration number N-40899 I thought that it
actually came from the US. (That's a heck of a trans-atlantic trip for
single...

O-200 Modifications by

Are there any O-200 engine modifications that increase performance. I don't really want
to see my C-150 at 150 mph, but it's fun to dream.

RT-395A transponder by
Steve
My 28V transponder is being very slow to warm up lately and I can get a good
deal on another RT-395A but the guys says it is 14V. What would it take to
make this one work on my system. Thanks

Radio station license re-application? by
Mike Noel
I'm a bit confused about if I need to re-apply for the radio station license
after purchasing an airplane that already has one in-force. Do I need to
re-license the radios with the FCC?

Oil coolers by
Dan Luke
Somehow, in 6 years of flying, I missed the fact that not all light piston
airplanes have oil coolers. Why is this so? What factor determines when an
O-320, for instance, must have an oil cooler? ISTR that the oil does a large
percentage of the cooling in aircraft piston engines. How does the...

T-hangar and aircraft dimensions by
Nathan Young
I have rented space in a 40x40 hangar for the last few years, and am
planning on purchasing a t-hangar in the near future.
I would appreciate comments on desireable things to look for in a
hangar.
My thoughts:
1. Overall hangar condition, structurally sound. All the T-hangars
at my airport are...

300hp engine choices? by
ivo welch
hi: ok, it looks like I will need an engine in the 300hp range that
is certified. I really dislike the old and noisy lycomings and
continentals. the bombardier looks like a ways away. are there any
other reasonably good certificated choices?
