Cheap GPS Loggers for FAI Badges - Status? by
Papa3
I notice from the brief minutes of the FAI meeting in Lausanne that a
proposal to use Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) flight recorders was not
accepted. In other words, the widely available, cheap units are again
rejected in favor of expensive, proprietary units. I'd like to know...

It seems that Bush will be in the Reno area tomorrow, Thursday, June 18. If
you you were planning to fly there tomorrow, I suggest you see

Chris Nicholas
If starting a completely new panel, but already having a Volkslogger and
an iPAQ 3850, which computer and vario systems would people recommend?
Which software for moving map etc.?
Is there a difference between optimum for competitions and optimum for

Help Casio E100 by
Bob
I have a Casio E100 (Wife's old PDA) running CE 2.11. It has 16 meg of
memory.
I would like to use it to (at least) download the flight files from an
LX5000. I would love to use this as a cockpit management system. Any
ideas.

Borgelt B40 question by
tuno
The B40 that came with my glider has this curious fault: after
experiencing an updraft of 10 knots or greater, the rapid,
high-pitched (i.e. "saturated") audio tone gets "stuck" and continues
indicating 10+ knots until the B40 registers a negative value (sink).
Has anyone else encountered this...

Newbie seeking advice by
.
I went for a ride in a glider many years ago and was immediately taken with
the whole experience. I have always wanted to fly and now have the time to
do it as I am finished with my skydiving career. Before I sell my rigs I
wanted to ask a question. Do any of you wear pilot rigs? Before I...

Glider schools - opinions (US) by
Chris K
I am fortunate to have a lot of time-off piled up.
Lately I have been thinking about a soaring vacation.
I have narrowed down my choices to 'Soar Minden' in
Nevada and 'Estrella Soaring' in Arizona (a little
concerned about July heat in phx). Has anybody had
any experience with the above schools? ...

Warning by
Hans Disma
Some time ago I bought a used Bohli mechanical variometer ( over 15 years
old ) for $ 400 from a certain Mr. Bill Daniels in " good condition " The
photo he did send me showed only the back (!) of the instrument. I received
the instrument DOA; poorly packed, broken glass, in other words useless....

L-Nav & Model 20, What's It Worth? by
Brian Iten
On the used market front, what is a good price to pay
for a used L-Nav and Model 20 logger? I think the L-Nav
has the latest program installed. The GPS/Nav display
is not included in the sale and I am not sure if a
vario is part of the deal either.
Thanks in advance,
Brian
