Spin Training by
JJ Sinclair
Bill Dean,
The tone of the spin discussion has taken a rather harsh turn, lately. I may be
responsible for some of it, because I allowad myself to be sucked into a
discussion of gun control, socialized medicine, slavery and Oh yes, spins. The
harsh tone was not my intention and my posts have been...

Super Dimona Motorglider in Soaring magazine feb 2004 by
Mark James Boyd
Interesting article. Too bad (for US pilots) it uses
the "despised in the US" rotax engine. But this is
a real favorite in Europe, I'm told.
CFR 61.69(a)(1) requires tow pilots to
"Holds at least a private pilot certificate with a category
rating for powered aircraft."
Perhaps the last 7 words...

Soaring Convention: What was new, interesting, best? by
soarski
Well done
Soar Point
The fact that he comes out with his points just once in a while,
makes it very interesting!
BUT.......for us who could not make it to the Convention, could we have
some reports, stories. What gliders were on the floor, Talks, lectures,
items?

1-34 Rudder by
DGRTEK
Serious question. I've spoken to several pilots regarding the handling
characteristics of the 1-34, and the general comment was that the Rudder could
have been a bit more effective.
My question is, Has anyone tried to modify the rudder to be more effective?
What would be the result of adding a...

Minden's filling up! by
JJ Sinclair
We got 20 contestants signed up with a maximum of 40, due to limited parking on
the east side. Preferential cut off date, 7 April. BTW, Parowan is full (50)
with 19 that won't get in. Come on over to Minden, but do it before we fill up
also. No sports class, therefore NO reverse seeding at Minden....

How do they do that? by
David Pye
Ok, I've just about read enough 'across the pond' flak!
So here's a serious question:
I had a look at http://gliding.hoppenrath.com/index_en.htm
the Dune Running mpeg and found it fantastic. But.

Puchaz spin - now wearing 'chutes by
Bill Daniels
The discussion of wearing parachutes is an interesting one. Parachutes are
cheap insurance and, when one is needed, nothing else will quite do the job.
So, why aren't they universally worn?
In a word, weight. The available two seaters, for the most part, have
weight limitations that almost...

90 Degree turn while slipping by
ISoar
I can't find anything in my books about how to make a 90 degree turn
(e.g., downwind to base) while in a full slip, but maybe that's
because it's so obvious. (Given my limited # hours, just because
something seems obvious to me doesn't mean I'm not going to check it
out.) I figure I'll turn with...
