Burt Compton - Marfa
Cliff Robertson, friend and promoter of soaring.
Sep 10, 2011
Cliff Robertson, the handsome movie actor who played John F. Kennedy
in "PT-109," won an Oscar for "Charly" and was famously victimized in
a 1977 Hollywood forgery scandal, died Saturday. He was 88.

thanks M&H Soaring by
Dan[_6_]
I needed a small part for AS-W 20 and thought M&H just might have it.
Sent an e-mail and got a very quick reply and sure enough they had
what I needed.
Monty sent it right out and I'm back in business.
Great service, both Monty and Heinze are great guys.
Thanks
Dan Rihn

MOVE OVER AESOP, WE'VE GOT FLIGHT 93 by
Intrepid
Exactly 10 years ago -- probably within a few minutes of this being
posted -- one of the greatest myths in aviation history took root when
a jet airliner crashed into a field in rural Western Pennsylvania.
It is the tale of "Let's Roll," the mysterious Flight 93.
In my opinion it's the...

Westerboer electronic total energy vario by
kd6veb
Hi Gang
The new Phoenix came without a working TE probe because they had
hoped to design their own but designing TE probes is 90% magic and 10%
science and they failed. So I needed to change the Tasman Vario with
an electronic vario that could operate from the static and pitot lines
and calculate...

I'll be traveling to Southampton UK next week and would like to stop by
Lasham on Saturday & take a dual flight. I've visited the website and
unfortunately wasn't able to discern what options are available. Any
local knowledge would be gratefully received.
Thanks,

oldest pilots by
Ken
Al Santilli was born on May 28, 1914. At 91, almost 92, he is still
active, regularly flying his Libelle out of Moriarty, New Mexico. (He's
been soaring since he was 16 in 1930.) I'm trying to find out if he is
the oldest currently active soaring pilot in America. If anyone knows
of an active pilot...

aware he has an intermittent electronic...

"Joy of Soaring" Book by
Carl B
I have just heard that the SSA is no longer going to supply "The Joy
of Soaring". This is the book that I have recommended to ab initio
students and it has been well accepted. What are other instructors
recommending to their ab initio students? Thanks.

Dust Devil Dash postponed one week by
Ian Cant[_4_]
The situation direct from the fireboss at 3 pm today is that the
helicopters
are continuing to operate from Mountain Valley, subduing persistent
hotspots
that are inaccessible to ground firefighters. They expect to continue this
thru Saturday, so the TFR is extremely unlikely to be lifted on...
