BB/WSJ in the news by
Ed Byars
Congrats to BB (John Cochrane) for the lead article on the Opinion page of
the Wall Street Journal this morning!
It is a great piece but after reading it I still am in doubt as to what to
do financially. I "got out" 2000 Dow points ago (10,000) and am clueless
as to what to do now with my money...

winglet weight by
Brad[_2_]
I just made a set of winglets using 7725 and a core material called
Soric SF. I used the resin infusion process. The other day I bonded
the skins together and a few days later, with much excitment, I split
the molds apart and liberated the parts.
I gotta say, these are some nice looking parts,...

Paint question by
Brian Bange[_2_]
I just bought an ASW20B that was refinished in DuPont Imron back in '93 by
Fred Jiran. The paint is in surprisingly good condition for its age, but
there are lots of small spots where hangar rash needs to be fixed. There
are also some slight dings in the wing skins on the bottom that...

Review: New book on the U2 super motorglider by
kd6veb
Hi Gang
Occasionally one finds a good read on a subject that many of us are
interested in, namely soaring. Well the Government funded in the 50s
the development of a new spy plane - a motorglider - named the U2. The
specifications of this machine included operation up to 80,000 feet at
80% the...

wristbands for air sickness, do they work ? by
Jack[_11_]
I am learning to fly gliders and I struggle with motion sickness.
I have tried:
- Ginder tablets, it helped but I was still a bit nauseaus.
- Motion sickness tablets, they affect my awareness and concentration.
- Chewing various things, best was beef jerky (not a joke) it helps but
still not good...

New Pilot Advice by
[email protected]
I thought I had taken up this hobby with a lot of enthusiasm until
last weekend. Prior to last weekend I thought I was making steady
progress, taking off landing, developing some touch on the stick. When
I go the field I approach the flight with butterflies and some fear. I
was told by an instuctor...

Winter project, tow out gear - wing wheel by
bildan
I have to refurbish/replace my wing wheel assembly and need some
suggestions/insights. The current one is the typical aluminum wing
cuff and bicycle wheel. It wasn't well made to start with and it's
falling apart. I want to take this opportunity to improve the thing.
One of the biggest issues I...

See You : "Task Not Finished" by
Uncle Fuzzy
When I look at my flights in See You, it always tells me I haven't
completed the task. I don't know if it's because See You wants me to
fly cylinders, or of the ZERO entries in my Takeoff and Landing
Coordinates are the issue. Here's what shows in the...

Seat Covering Fabric by
Old Dog
My threadbare seat cushion needs it's cover replaced. Can anyone
recommend an appropriate fabric that will stand up to UV and still be
comfortable?
Regards, Dave

My first flight in a glider... finally! by
vic20owner
I realize this is old hat for most of you guys, but I figured I'd post
something for lurkers who are interested in this sport but have yet to
take the first step.
I posted here about a year ago asking about flying gliders, and I was
pointed to a local gliderport (www.soarfl.com). Here is the...

looking for clamshell trailer by
Brad[_2_]
I am looking for a clamshell trailer for the glider I am building.
Looks like within the next few months or at least by summer I'll be
needing a trailer.
Anyone out there know of any trailers that need a shiny sailplane?

Glider Insurance, which to choose? by
[email protected]
I called Costello insurance today for a quote. Boy was I suprised.
For an antique ASW-15 it's just under a thousand dollars a year.
Other club members, with more expensive gliders and less experience
than I have, get insurance for half of what I was quoted. Costello
gets insurance through AIG. ...
