vintage powered glider by Chip Starr
Can anyone out there give me an idea of what a vintage powered sailplane is worth? It is a Hawk model 3 1963 powered sailplane. In great condition, with all log books, missing gauges. Thanks, Chip

Ka-6 Rigging by vontresc
Well I finally got out in my (new to me anyways) Ka-6 the other day, and I was wondering if anyone out there has some tips to make assembling it any easier. Ideally I'd like to get to a system where I wouldn't have to bother fellow club members too much for help. I figure as long as I keep the beer...

Uvalde Day 6 by BB
A front passed through, leaving us on the north side. Good cumulus at launch. A 4 hour MAT, 150 miles of triangle out to the west, then do what you want. The first triangle is a rocket ride with clouds lining up well and strong 6-8 knot thermals. As we got back to Uvalde, it started bluing out from...

EW Recorder by Douglas Logan
I have inherited an EW Avionics D type recorder with the glider I am now flying. But over the last few months even though I have taken it flying with me quite a few times and it seems to work OK. I have used the EW uploader to save the traces so I know the cable connection works, but I have never...

Leading Turns with Rudder - Revisited by Roy Clark, \B6\
At the beginning, Paul wrote: An SSA 'Master' CFIG I know is perpetually hammering it into his students that to initiate a turn in a glider, the FIRST thing you do is feed in rudder. On his 1-5 list of making a turn in a glider, #1 is rudder (as it's own separate input). While this may be...

Uvalde Day 1 by BB
Uvalde US 15 meter / Open nationals day 1 We had a great first day at the 15 meter and open nationals. Weatherman Tom Kelley told us there would be good thermals with cu out west and south, but rain from Edouard would creep in later. With a wink, he added "I'd aim to be home at 5." The gate...

Looking for Jim Dobberful by Scott Alexander
Does anyone have any contact information on Jim Dobberful? Last I heard, he was working for Boeing as an aeronautical engineer and flying a Nimbus 3 around Seattle, WA. I am contemplating refinishing a glider this winter. I helped Jim refinish an ASW-19 when I was in high school. I'd like to...

G102 Wing Inspection Panel by Tim[_1_]
Can anybody tell me the diameter of the plexiglass inspection window on the underside of the wing of a G-102? I forgot to measure it this past weekend and I'd like to get one made during the week if possible - hate to have to go back up next weekend just to take the measurement! Thanks.

SPOT messenger free for Glider Pilots w/ service purchase by [email protected]
I got a free Spot messenger at Oshkosh several weeks ago. They were running a promotion for anyone who signed up for 1 year of service and was an EAA member. I talked with Rahul Athavale at Spot and talked him into extending the offer to glider pilots for the next week. If you want to get one,...

Separation after release by Andy[_1_]
Was looking for a report of the Uvalde incident mentioned in another thread and found this: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20080811X01215&key=1 Glad everyone got down ok but have to wonder why the glider and the tug were at the same altitude, and in the same place, a minute...

Avionic Dittel Radio Repair ?? by Dixie Sierra
The other kids didn't want to play with me today because my radio is unreadable on 123.3. It seems to be fine on the local unicomm freq of 123.00. I have not tested on other freq's. It doesn't sound like something I'll be able to fix. Which leads to where can I get the radio evaulated/worked on?...

rig k6 by stuart kinnear
THis read on rec.aviation.soaring from american source I had about 30 years of experience rigging a Ka6E with only two of us. The minimum equipment we used was either a car with a cushion on the roof, or a trestle, plus a padded U-shaped cradle which I found is better if the fuselage is a...

Uvalde no fly day by BB
Belive it or not, it just didn't get hot enough in Uvalde. Overcast from a front to the north cut down heating until noon. We sat around until 2:30 but it never cooked enough to launch. Task B: Laundry, Pool, Mexican food. John Cochrane BB
