Value of a LX4000 by
[email protected]
I have been looking at a LX4000 (with latest updates) with garmin 90
but I have no idea
of its current value.
I could not find any advertised on any of the usual sale sites, could
someone give an estimate
and or its equals from other manufacturers.

Characteristics of a good winch site by
Chris Reed[_1_]
Lots of interest in another thread from US readers in looking for good
winch sites. I thought it might be useful for those of us from countries
where winching is common to give our list of essential and desirable
characteristics for a good winch site.
From my UK experience I'd say there are...

ASK-21 - is a tail dolly necessary? by
Dave Springford
My club is buying a K-21 for student training and I am wondering if a
tail dolly is necessary for ground handling?
We plan to get the tail wheel option - not the tail skid.
Does the K21 balance like the Twin Astir so it is easy to turn on the
ground when towing it back to the launch point?
When...

SSA Website now has video section! by
Dave Newill
I am sure this is old news to others - but tonight was the first time
I had seen the VIDEO link on the website. Some really good ones here -
but I know you all have favorites that need to be added. This is the
sort of thing we need to promote to our you-tube generation...

Elfe S-4 by
GM
Hi all,
I am looking into purchasing a Elfe S-4.
Can anybody with first-hand experience comment on the flight
characteristics? Are there any bad points to watch out for?
Would this be a ship for a low-time pilot, who has some solo time in a
Std.Astir and TwinAstir?
Do S-4s have a nose hook and a...

In Flight Video by
[email protected]
What are people using to get in flight video? I am thinking about
putting some sort of bullet camera on the Cherokee for this upcoming
season. I figure if im going to land out all the time I might as well
get some of it on tape so i can share with my friends :) Any sort of
cheap setup that i can...

CFIs by
fredsez
Thank you all for your quick and thoughtful responses. Every thought
expressed has value. I own a good winch, but have not made even one
launch with it.. I need help.
Yes, the 2-33 back seat is tough compared to our DG 500. 5 hours in
the DG is better than 30 mins in the 2-33. Fifteen 2-33's (if...

CFIs by
fredsez
Where are the CFIs?
Without enough good CFIs... the number of new soaring pilots will
decline.
A potential CFI asked me what is the first requirement to become a
CFI? Perhaps I didn't think of the FARs, but my answer was; "You need
a strong desire to teach".
Some CFIs need to build flying time to...

The Relief Band for Nausea Relief by
jodom
I've reviewed the relief band in the context of my experience as a
glider pilot. I'd love to hear comments from other pilots about their
experiences.

Playing Russian Roulette on gliderpilot.net by
Del C
Hi,
It works like this. You spend a long time writing a
learned technical, instructional, or witty piece, and
then try to post it onto gliderpilot.net. The 'fun'
comes from seeing whether it will be accepted, or disappear
into a black hole somewhere in the electronic ether!
I have learned the...

Is there an archive of old posts? by
John in Burke, VA
I remember seeing recommendations for digital cameras. Since I laid mine my
Casio point & shoot down somewhere, I'm in the market for a new one. Thus,
is there an archive of the old posts? I purchased and tried the Panasonic
Lunex DMC-FZ18, but returned it because I don't like the flash...

(USA) Airport data now available with Airspace files by
Tuno
In addition to the NDF-based airspace files that subscribers at
justsoar.com will receive, turnpoint files describing airports from
the current FAA NASR database will also be provided with the download.
I think this feature will be pretty useful. If you provide a turnpoint
file to the web page to...
