An interesting trial flight attempt... by
[email protected]
.... with a better result than a previous recent thread ;-)
Some notes about this:
Average flights to this point in 2005: time 3:03 and
distance 149 miles. I know that seems short but it
includes things like BFR/rope-break practice and
some demo rides.
This business about 12 volts vs 14 volts is...

First Glider - No Gelcoat by
Waduino
Yes I've read lots of posts about buying a first glider. My heart is set on
an LS-4 since I'd like to stay in the roughly $30K US price range with a
decent panel and trailer.
BUT, what if I just don't want gelcoat because sooner or later it will have
to be refinished and that doesn't make any...

Cell phone as flight recorder by
Wallace Berry
Maybe this is old news, but it's new to me. Take a look at:
http://bonesinmotion.com/corp/
This is a service for cell phones that tracks movement and allows the
track log to be downloaded to a website for later viewing. It records
pretty much everything that our gps flight recorders do. Of...

oxygen tank by
Lignan Christian
Here is what I did last week, following the infos
from an A.I. (USA)
I when to a Diving shop (which sells all the stuff
for people who love to
dress in latex and breathe underwater) they took my
(steel) tank for
hydro testing, it will (hopefully) come back with the
new numbers
stamped on the metal....

how do you pronounce Grob? by
[email protected]
I hear most people pronounce Grob with a B on the end. But I dont think
it is actually a B but rather an esset which is a letter in german that
looks like a B but is pronounced as a hard S. So Grob should really be
pronouced Gross.

O2 cylinder by
HL Falbaum
Does anyone out there in r.a.s. land know how to get a German Oxygen
cylinder recertified to DOT specifications, and a place to get it done? I
think it is out of date, and I got I with the glider, a DG800B. It appears
to be in good shape-no dings or scratches. It has no DOT cert number on the
neck,...

Bugs - self-cleaning wings? by
Bill Daniels
Brousing today's science news turned up a bit of research on the
self-cleaning properties of titanium dioxide - a pigment used in
'superwhite' paints.
From a Science Daily story on self-cleaning bathrooms:
"The particles work by absorbing ultraviolet light below a certain
wavelength, exciting...

Condor contest interest? by
Frank
Hi,
I've been flying multi-player online soaring contests in Condor over
the last few months and it has been a lot of fun (and maybe even good
training for the contest season).
I'm wondering if there is interest in something like "Monday Night
Glider Racing" like the LowLands Cup, except on a...

L-23 wingtip wheel modification by
5Z
Has anyone modified the L-23 wingtip and put a rollerblade or other
wheel on it?
Factory wants $1900 per side for wheel equipped replacement tips, whivh
IMO is a bit steep.

SN10 Simple Glide Calculator Page questions by
Frank
Hi,
I've been enjoying my SN10B for several years now and really love it.
Recently I have been trying to use the Simple Glide Calculator (SGC)
page to do side calculations during competitions (I used to do this
with my LS4 prayer wheel but gave it to a pilot that had no computer at
all - tried to...
