Wanted: 1-man rigging system by
Jack
I am recovering from a bad tendon tear in my right arm and really need
a 1-man rigging system. I'm a cheap sumbich and don't want to pay
retail... anyone got one they'd like to part with? I don't really need
an electric one. A crank version would be fine.

Units for velocities in forward motion/vertically by
masa
Hello Group!
I have flown gliders in Sweden for some ten years, and vonder what the
units are for forward motion (in Sweden ) and vertical velocity
(in Sweden ).
I am asking this since I am writing a small program to be used on
HP-calculators.
The program will be kind of a "pocket-simulator"...

Flight Control Failures by
Mike the Strike
Following the thread on landing with one spoiler, I wonder what
proportion of landing accidents result from mechanical failure or
jamming of primary flight controls and spoilers/dive brakes. I
personally know of a couple of failures - one spoiler handle sheared
off as the pilot did his pre-landing...

Canopy Closing Problem by
[email protected]
The hot weather canopy closing problem is often due to the plexiglas's
high thermal coefficient of expansion, and hot weather. The canopy
expansion is much higher than that of most fuselage composites. The
manufacturers generally ship their sailplanes with nicely fitting
canopies, when the air...

ELT location for V2C by
[email protected]
Jumping into the ELT fray ...
I'm trying to figure out the best place to install one in my V2C.
The ELT is an ACK Technologies model E-01, a yellow brick
2.75"x2.75"x7.75". The glider's previous owner had tried it where the
transponder battery currently lives (he removed the ELT to make room
for...

Another sign-of-the-times... by
CLewis95
Yesterday I displayed my glider at a large youth scouting event held at
the local airport. I spent the day seating kids in the cockpit,
answering questions, and of course trying to keep the glider in one
piece.
As usual there were a few kids that asked some very insightful
questions, but it was...

Winch training in northeast USA ? by
toad
Does anybody know where winch training is done in the north-eastern US
?
I would like to get training sufficent to actually perform winch/auto
tows.
Somewhere that I could get concentrated training would be prefered.
Thanks

OLC in English by
Ted Wagner
Is there an English version posted somewhere? I'd very much like to read the
front page news but my German is limited to "Bringen Sie mir bitte on Bier
und ein Schnitzel".
I tried using Alta Vista's babelfish but it gave me error 157.

Double Tow by
Doug LS4
The subject of double tows has been discussed a few times. I've re-read
the old threads and I have the gist of how it's done.
It's a little unclear from the old posts if double tows are a
reasonable way to get gliders in the air more quickly in the course of
routine launching. On our busiest days,...

OXYGEN HANGOVER? by
[email protected]
All,
I fly from an airfield that is over 6000 feet elevation, therefore I
use oxygen on most flights. I have found that I get a headache that
lasts for several hours following every flight. I use an EDS system
and have tried several different settings; everything from its maximum
setting which...

G-Meters by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I want to be able to stock and sell G-Meters for my soaring pilot customers.
I am having a difficult time finding vendors.
The Falcon line looks interesting, but it is for experimental aircraft
only - if I understand their web site correctly - they sell non-TSO'd
instruments. ...
