IFR Routing to W95 Ocracoke Island? by
RH
Hi everyone,
We have a vacation planned in September to Ocracoke Island. We'll be
departing from Spartanburg, SC (SPA).
I have flown to Ocracoke once before but that was VFR from the north.
Any idea what routing to expect when IFR from the west?

10 hrs. Instrument for Commercial by
Geo. Anderson
Just started looking at ASE requirements. I don't have to get _another_
10 hours if I am already IA rated, right? Previous instrument training
time has to apply here. ? FAR 61.129(a)3(i)
Thanks.

Duats route filing - need help via radials by
[email protected]
I've been trying to use duats to file flight plans. The preferred
route from PHL to Toronto CYYZ is ptw, then ptw 320 deg radial to
intercept J64 RAV etc. I've tried various formats to enter this
radial to a jet route format, but duats doesn't seem to accept it.
Any one able to make this type of...

Flight Plan syntax by
David Lindenauer
With the disappointing performance of FSS briefings lately, this
weekend I tried filing an IFR flight plan through DUATS for the first
time. I couldn't seem to find the correct syntax for what I know is
ALWAYS the first thing leaving my home airport:
"Farmingdale 3 Departure, radar vectors...

Alternate minimuns and "TEMPO" in the forecast by

When you're determining if you need an alternate, and whether you can use
an airport for an alternate, do you use the minimum of the normal
forecast, TEMPOs and PROBs?

Using the 430 by
PaulaJay1
I tried something with my Garmin 430 yesterday that worked out well so I
thought I would pass it along.
I was doing a series of practice approaches to the area airports that are 10
miles or so apart. The problem was setting up for the next approach while
climbing out from the last. With only a...

GNS 480 and 8.33kHz by
Denis Rochat
What about 8.33kHz, it was annonced for the CNX80, I read that they
changed their mind and would add it to the GNS480 but together with an
improvment of the transmitter output power. No news and no prices
since. Any one hear something about that?
thanks,
Denis (LSGG)

Twin or a fast single for rent in the New York city area? by
Alexis Yushin
Hi,
Sorry for posting it here, but living in Europe its really not that easy
to find a suitable aircraft for rent in the USA. I'm looking for a twin
or a fast single to rent beginning of June in the New York City area to
fly it down to Florida and back in the course of one and half weeks. I
will...

GPS UPSAT/Garmin/Jeppesen subscribers by

Just found out that the 2MB card we've all been using to update our GX
55, 60's etc will *not* work for the next data update. Jepp (to its
credit) will *give* you a new 4mb card in return for your old one, but
*act fast* since they are overwhelmed with requests and the deadline is
fast approaching.

³Minimum Fuel" Does Not Mean Priority Handling
Recent ASRS incident reports reveal a common misunderstanding involving

Heard on the air by
Roy Smith
Man, talk about ATC being nice to pilots. I was heading into Providence
(RI) earlier today. Weather was VFR, but there was just enough cloud
around that lots of instrument students were out chasing some benign IMC
time (that's what we were doing).
There's some guy who's obviously having trouble...

Toronot-to-Bahamas by
Anthony Acri
Planning a trip from Toronto (Canada) to Bahamas Freeport.
Is there any special forms, request that have to be made?
I know we clear customs at any POE for US. Do we do the same for the
Bahamas?
How is ATC in the Bahama's? Any special things we need to know?
Thanks
