New Midwest Website by
Craig Peterson
As a future retirement hobby, I have created a website for Upper Midwest pilots and students. I would like to ask if I could get some feedback from those of you who are active on the web with aviation interests.
It's called "MyFlyingStuff.com" and if you get an opportunity to visit, I would...

OK, I know this has been beat to death in the past.... WHich is
better, leaning rich of peak or lean of peak??? I could've sworn my

Cap't Dan by
Flyingmonk
Does anyone know Capt Dan who flew H300C helicopter for radio station
AM63 around 1776. I was in forth grade and he landed his helicopter in
the school yard. This was one of the reasons that I took up helicopter
flying. I'm wondering if he is still slive and I'd like to hollar at
him.

R.I.P. Highflyer by
Stella Starr[_4_]
Tragic news this week. One of the first friends I met when I joined this group as a student pilot has died in the crash of his "second" plane.
Friends who knew John Johnson of southern Illinois will agree, because The Red Lady, his Stinson, was first in his heart...but she was nearly destroyed...

Are Reno Air Races sure to happen? by
Robert Gary
Its a bit concerning that the website still says they have until the 1st of this month to come up with the money to pay the insurance. I'm holding off buying my tickets until I see something that indicates they were able to pay the insurance. Is the website information just old?

Hello? Any oldtimers around? by
Ricky
Is Mx the only oldtimer around? I'm very glad to see he's still here,
by the way, just wondering if everybody left in the midst of the
spammer a few years ago.
Happy Flying!

Density altitude strikes again by
Mxsmanic
A brand-new video showing a small airplane crash from inside the aircraft:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDu0jYiz-v8
The video claims that a combination of density altitude and an "air pocket"
brought the aircraft down into the trees, but all I see are effects of density
altitude and what looks...

Have a student question... by
Robert Barker
Cessna 172SP. Mfg/Cert after 1998. As you know, there is no MEL for this
aircraft. VFR day flight. Nav/position lights. Say the bulb is out on the
starboard position light.
91.206 says nav/position lights are not mandatory for VFR day flight.
91.213(d) comes into play since there is no...

Good News regarding air-sickness! by
[email protected]
When I was 19 and on assignment out in Dallas, Texas I decided to take up flying. My instructor was a former fighter pilot fresh out of Vietnam. A rosy-faced loud jovial man, he always chewed on a cigar. He took me up in a tandem-seat Cub and we pulled some aerobatic moves flying around the Texas...

other than the heat t was a nice day in mid-Misouri - lots of fluffy
clouds with pancake-flat bottoms.
Driving with my daughter, we were talking about clouds and weather and
how there really was moisture below the clouds but the temperature was
just a bit too high to condense it.
