Winching (European tips for US clubs) by Chris Reed[_1_]
A number of the current threads talk about winching in the US. As this is fairly new to the US, and old hat in Europe, it might be useful for European readers to offer tips to US clubs who are thinking of trying it. My tips would be: 1. A 3,000 ft run is enough, but 3.5-4k ft is better. 3k ft...

ASK13 hangar ceiling by [email protected]
We want to hang up our ASK13 in our hanger. Our ASK13 has a nose wheel and glass fuselage modification, that is why a rope or a band/strap hang is not possible. We know there are 2 holes on the outside of the fuselage around the mid section of the cockpit. Maybe this can be an option for...

The rudder waggle signal does not work by 5Z

canopy seal by [email protected]
Hi there, I have about 70 ft. of 5.5 mm silicone tube that I used to seal my canopy. The manufacturer is selling it in 100 ft section and that is how I ended up with that excessive amount. If anyone has an interest of buying it, please call me at 509-380-4106. Jacek Pasco, WA

ATR 500 display by Martin Gregorie[_4_]
I have a Filser ATR 500 that can be hard to read under some lighting conditions. I'm not using the display backlight. I'd be grateful if any ATR 500 owner who has tried using the backlight can tell me if its worth disturbing the wiring harness to turn it on and if so, is there a further benefit...

Turning radii and spanwise airspeed distribution by JJ Sinclair
Good observation, Bill. Most long wingers have found it best to keep the nose pointed towards the outside of the turn. It helps the climb. Your yaw string should be telling you to, "Put your foot in the inside hole". Just don't do it. Does that make sense? JJ Sinclair

Distance wood has flown by Steve Leonard
There is a local Ka-6 that Rudy Mozer flew 396 miles straight out from Adrian, Michigan. The Kansas State Free Distance record is held by a long winged BG-12 at 436.1 miles. My Dad built a Cherokee with a 15 meter wing (called the Annebula). He did his Diamond distance (in a flat triangle) with...

LFO's (lightweight flying objects) by bumper
Or what to do when the weather says, "no soaring". For those who don't get out enough (no rude comments directed towards me, please), you may not have heard of the following aviation related items (no financial or other connections with this, but they sure is fun!): "Air Hogs Havoc"...

Jantar (was Cirrus v ASW) by Jono Richards
Jeff, A Jantar is a fantastic machine, with good performance for the price. Shame you cant use one with a 'normal' canoy, but really and truly a split canopy is of no hindrence what-so-ever. With regards to tipping over - its probably the least of your worries if you are landing in a field where...
