757 gets a 7 by
Andrew Burke
I'm a plane spotter.
No, I don't wear an anorak (it's more like a wind breaker) and write down
the registration numbers or anything like that. But I do look up every time
I hear an airliner passing over. GA planes and fighters are fine, but to me
there's something special about a jet airliner....

You can't buy this publicity by
Bob Fry
Our local airport, University Airport (KEDU) at Davis, California, was
going to be closed 5 years ago. Local pilots formed a group--Friends
of University Airport--to defend the airport. We were successful, and
rather than disband, the group remained to continue promoting the
airport to the...

Aircraft ID? canard biz plane by
Ron Hardin
What might a business-sized aircraft have been, that had both a
canard stabilizer up front and a regular stabilizer in the back,
twin engine, very high pitched (frequency) props, quite fast, that
went over.
I think it was smaller than what I remember as a Beech starship.

Does an "IFR approved" GPS placard require database updates? by
Charlie Derk
During my instrument training I was told that if you have an IFR
certified GPS, it had to be updated if you were using it for IFR Flight.
You can use it VFR even if it hasn't been updated

Vpod on Boeing 747? by
[email protected]
I just stumbled across a picture on the web of a 747 that has a 5th
engine mounted between the fuselage and inboard left engine, neatly
under the wing. The photo's caption states that it is a Qantas 747
carrying an extra engine for a sister ship. It was referred to as "a
Vpod configuration." I...
