Noise issues with Oudie 2 in a couple different aircraft by
Doug Mueller
Is anybody else having noise issues when the Oudie is hard wired
to ships power. I know two aircraft that have the squelch turned on
to try to drown out the noise on the radio. I believe it is from the
Oudie while it is being charged. I recently added the Oudie to the
aircraft and now the radio...

FLARM A minimum spacing to ADS-B Antenna? 1 foot !?!? by
OHM Ω
Maybe this has been covered in RAS but I couldn't find it. I looked through two documents about the spacing of FLARM antennas, specifically the FLARM A and ADS-B antennas. Obviously, the thing to avoid is the transmitting of FLARM data (A antenna) interfering with ADS-B (or GPS) reception.
The...

Skin repairs on a Schroeder type trailer by
Brad[_2_]
I've got a trailer that was damaged a few years back when a load of
snow slid off the roof and landed right on the skin. About 5 of the
fiberglass ribs are broken and the skin is fractured, split and
generally ripped apart in a few areas.
Has anyone got some idea about how to repair the broken...

Forum Deficiencies in rec.aviation.soaring by
Gary Osoba[_3_]
This forum is great for general discussion, opinions on nearly
everything germane to it's topic and otherwise (unfortunately), and
various other uses.
However, it does not allow for any presentation of attachments,
graphics, or other useful information. I am likely in a small
minority, but when I...

Onerous OPerating Procedures/Improper (illegal?) Use of Unicom Freq. by
rjciii
The ongoing saga of my glider club's fight with the local airport
board at LaGrange, GA (LGC)continues.
A formal complaint was made by us to the local FAA who pulled both
parties in to a joint meeting in May where the airport board was
explicitly told that "They (the gliders) *will* be allowed to...

Soaring Convention: What was new, interesting, best? by
soarski
Well done
Soar Point
The fact that he comes out with his points just once in a while,
makes it very interesting!
BUT.......for us who could not make it to the Convention, could we have
some reports, stories. What gliders were on the floor, Talks, lectures,
items?

Anybody have some Ops and Procedures to send my way to get started?

"No more than three visits" by
ir. K.P. Termaat
Hello,
For the next IGC meeting in March 2005 at Lausanne we filed a proposal
to amend the note "turn points must be at least 10 km apart and may be
claimed only once" in rule 1.4.3.c. and 1.4.5.b. This is to avoid that
large sportif flights like the 1000km flight given...

Clifornia City Gider ops in jeopardy by
Martin Eiler[_3_]
Soarist
It is thanks to the many hundreds of hours of research, investigation and
dedication by the California City Glider Pilots Action Group and the
soaring community in general. That we at least temporarily have some hope
of Caltrans re-permitting Cal City Airport to return to the safe, sane...

Komet trailer strut by
John Shelton
One of the hydraulic struts on my Komet trailer went flat (the ones that
hold the top up). In what would be a very un-gliderpilot-like act, I guess I
should replace them both. But where? Any clues?

Tow plane airspeed vs. glider being towed airspeed? by
MHende6388
Asked a question I could not answer yesterday.....
Why does the towplane indicated airspeed always indicate so much higher than
the glider behind? As much as 10 knots. Consistent with the Pipers, Cessnas and
Grummans.
And yes, compensated for kts. vs. mph.
Thanks,
Michael

Flat-free glider tail dolly wheel by
JS
Just finished this conversion.
Found a flat-free wheel and tire at the local Tractor Supply Co (tractorsupply dot com). SKU 3553230 "Never Flat Tire, 8 inch". It's rated for 220lb / 100kg and has a 2.50x4 tire. It's soft enough to provide some shock absorption.
But that wheel has 5/8" bearings, and...

USB Cable type for Cambridge 302 Flight Recorder by

I recently upgraded a 302A flight recorder at Cambridge. It has the
USB port installed. I am now trying to use my laptop to download the
data. Jeff over at Cambridge did not say what type of USB cable was
necessary to download the files but there are different types of USB
cables. I have a USB to...
