Piper Aztec - Alternator Conversion by
Dean
I have recently bought a 1960 Aztec with generators. Although these
have been overhauled recently, i'd rather have alternators installed.
I see InterAv have a generic kit. Has anyone installed this before?
What is the time to install, and any issues with particular brand?
Any feedback would be...

mode c intermittent by
skyav8r
Howdy,
I have an Aeromech 8140B20 encoding altimeter with a KT76 transponder. Mode C is intermittent with ATC. Is it more than likely this is an altimeter problem or transponder problem? Sometimes when it is not reporting, i cycle the transponder off then back on and it starts reporting again. That...

Ramp Fees by
noname
I landed at Bridgeport airport in Connecticut to pick up a friend and
ended up at Atlantic Aviation Services. I was trying to get on the
other side of the tarmac to where my friends plane was parked but it
was blocked. The FBO guy waved me in to park and with nowhere else to
go I parked. Before I...

Nose Strut O-Ring Was Bad... by
Jay Honeck
Last week, in -22 temperatures, our nose gear drooped all the way to
the stop. Later, we were able to put some down pressure on the
stabilator (in the hangar) and bring it back up a couple of inches,
but made plans to have our A&P look at it.
Yesterday, since he wasn't coming in the shop till...

396 question by
dlevy
I use mapsource with my 396. Occasionally an address is incorrect. That
got me wondering what is the process by which Garmin (or whoever) builds the
database? Can I submit an error to get the database fixed?

Ethanol mogas by
john smith
I was wondering if it is possible to remove the ethanol from mogas and
thought of the folling idea.
Alcohol binds with water.
Get a big tank with a spigot at the bottom, fill it with mogas.
Add water, aggitate, let sit.
The alcohol ladden water will settle to the bottom.
Open the spigot, drain the...

Headset: Unexpected safety bonus by
Vaughn
Bought myself a new headset for Christmas. I expected it to just be a new
toy, but I was amazed at the increase in understandability. Lets face it, like
many pilots looking retirement age in the eye, my hearing ain't what it used to
be. Previously, when I got into a plane, I would automatically...

Single-Engine Partnership vs. Used vs. Flying Clubs by
[email protected]
Salutations All,
I've been reading on aircraft ownership lately, and had a few
questions.
In general, how do aircraft partnerships work? Do partnerships exist
for singles? Are they a good idea vs. purchasing a used aircraft
outright? What about flying clubs - do they typically offer...

Why No N-Number in FAA Database? by
Carl Orton
Hi all;
Checking into my first plane purchase, and have a question for you that I'm
not sure of.
I found a plane. I have not seen the registration cert (haven't looked for
it).
The N-number is *not* in the FAA aircraft registry database.

Antenna problems by
Mike Rapoport
I am having (I think) antenna problems in my Helio Courier. The radio is a
Garmin 530. The antenna is a forward swept :"V" type mounted high on the
vertical stabilizer. There is a splitter that spilts the output from this
one antenna into two VOR signals and a single GS signal. The NAV flag...

My boss, who I fly for and am office manager for, personally ownes a

Honeywell KFC-225 autopilot - what could cause this failure? by
Joerg
Hi Peter,
The mpeg didn't play for me but just a few thoughts:
Since they say they couldn't reproduce it on the ground, could this be a
noise issue? Possible sources would be the radio, a transponder
transmission, engine ignition, maybe a motor driven trim, fuel equalizer
pump if you have one....

I want to start by
Carlos Estopier
Hello:
I always had the goal and the illusion of flying on my own, now I have
the means to do it... so I have three questions:
a) What will be the best choice of airplane, for a firt timmer like
myself, considering, price range, flying range and easiness to learn
and fly?
b) Used or new?

Fuel dip tube for Piper Warrior? by
TTA Cherokee Driver
Is there a fuel dip tube available for the Piper Warrior II
(specifically, pa28-161)? When I flew the 172 I used a fuelhawk dip
tube to measure how much fuel I had. In the warrior there are tabs in
each tank at 17 gals but other than that it seems like guesswork. I
sure would like to find a way...
