Cessna 182: How can I fix cracks in tailcone bulkhead? by
Robert Bullock
Is there a doubler kit for the repair? This is the bulkead that holds the
rudder on and also that the tailcone screws on to. 1962 Cessna 182E.
The cracks are around the area where the rudder stops hit the screws mounted
in the bulkhead.
I hope that I don't have to buy a new one and a doubler can...

non TSO AI for co-pilot legal? by
Dico
Hello,
I'm wondering if its legal to put a 2nd artificial horizon in the plane
as a backup if it is not certified? We may want to put one in the
plane as a backup... but just wanted to know if we need a certified
unit or not.
Thanks,

Going for my Multiengine rating by
Kobra
Flyers,
For absolutely no reason, except that I want it, I have been taking
Multiengine lessons (including Multi-Instrument and Commercial). The flight
school has a Piper Seneca I (PA34-200) circa 1973.
It fly's like a flying Bulldozer on Codeine (sp?). It's a beast...really.
The controls...

Buying an older airplane by
Kai Glaesner
Hello community,
imagine you consider byuing an older airplane, e.g. a Piper from the Pa-28
Arrow series: is there an age (or a year of birth ;-) you would not exceed?
If yes, for what reason (e.g. may be that corrosion-protection was not usual
before that year, or that copper was so expensive,...

hurry up & pay the cover charge! :) )
From reliable sources: Jay throws a hell of a Pre-OSH party at a certain Inn

Question for Jim Wier (or other electrical guru) by
Mike Rapoport
In my 1974 Helio Courier, the avionics bus is powered by a contactor that is
activated by the avionics master switch. There is no circuit protection
between the contactor and the avionics bus. The wiring between the
contactor and the bus consists of two 12ga wires. There also doesn't appear

whichever comes first. So I made it to the prop shop this week and the

Flying Club Maintenance Officer? by
Chris Spierings
I'm a member of a local flying club which has ~30 members and 3
aircraft. A number of the club's long standing members have moved on in
the last year or so and now its time for some of the other folks to step
up and take the reins.
One of the jobs that is open is the club maintenance officer. ...

Eclipse 500 Direct Operating Cost by
Bravo8500
Does anybody know if the .69 per statute mile as posted on
eclipseaviation.com includes engine reserve? Also, going by the trip
profiles on the website, it looks like the cost would be a lot higher
on shorter trips... like the .69 is based on a max range trip, any
ideas?

Whelan Strobe Troubleshooting... by
zatatime
Does anyone know how to go about trouble shooting a Whelan strobe
light? It is on a Piper Cherokee and is the "beacon" of the airplane.
I had an extra bulb I don't know the status of and swapped it out, but
still didn't get any emission. I'm thinking that its probably the
unit, but I don't know...

Where can I get an old Scott Executive Mark III oxygen system hydro

Portland, OR area would be best... If I have to ship that brick I might
be better off buying new.

Exxon Elite Oil: More favorable oil analysis or simply coincidence? by

With my rebuilt Bonanza engine, I have been faithfully sending in every oil
sample drawn from the 40-50 hour oil change to Aviation Laboratories for an
oil sample.
When I receive the report from the lab, I log it to an MS Excel spreadsheet
in order to catch any trends. Currently I have seven oil...

Opinions Wanted - Arrow, Archer, 182, 177RG, Early 210's by
Larryskydives
I am slling my 1956 172, and will be in the amrket to purchase another plane.
I am really leaning towards a 1968 - 1970 Arrow. However , have seen a couple
of Archers that look interesting. Having a highwing I am partial to them -
what are the thoughts on early 210's (money pits?). I have also...

More on CHT probe replacement by
Jim Burns
I've been researching how to replace an old AC Spark Plug CHT probe in our
Aztec. AC doesn't make them anymore and the replacement Rochester brand
probe operates at a different resistance range requiring the gauge to be
removed, shipped out and recalibrated. Not a fun proposition.
Rumor, and a...

Jeff P
Anyone have any experience with the GNC-300XL IFR GPS/COM?
Does it work well? Do you like the user interface? How is the
screen?
I want to have GPS IFR capability in my 172. What else will I have to
install to get IFR cert for this unit?
Thanks,
