2016 SSA convention, So how did we do? by [email protected]
SF, the Spartanburg club did a great job with the convention. 1. The facility, which I will always know as the "Textile Hall", because that was what it was originally called, provided room for everything. I didn't see anybody squeezed in to a space too small. As other folks have said, the...

I bought a Mountain High O2-D1 flowmeter last year as a replacement for a personal one that had gone missing. I used it one time, then found my old one. It has all the parts that come with this unit (cannula, mask, bag, etc..) BUT NO TANK REGULATOR and is ready to go. Since I bought it Mountain...

Gliding accident "Cold Case" Investigation by Vaughn Simon[_2_]
History says that gliding pioneer Otto Lilienthal died after stalling his primitive hang glider from an agl of about 50 feet. As a pilot I never found much mysterious about that. However, some curious souls in Germany intend to recreate his glider from original plans and materials to perform...

2016 SSA convention, So how did we do? by Tom (2N0)
Excellent job! Exhibit hall: 1. Lots of space and a great lay out for the gliders. 2. The RVs were not out of place (and they had some great deals) 3. The exhibitors were spread out enough that you had to go to visit them all to see who was there. 4. I think the exhibit hall would have been worth...

Minden hanger for rent by xcnick
It is a square hanger so an assembled 15 meter wing will fit corner to corner. Hate to see it go to a power plane which can fit a T hanger.

MacCready by Jim White[_3_]
Reading the thread on dolphin technique brings to mind some work I did on MacCready. If you do the sums in an 'ideal' flight with one climb and one glide in flat air you find two things: 1) You can be well of the ideal MacCready speed (10%) before it makes much difference in XC speed, and 2)...

FAA booth at SSA convention by SF
Yes Someone can ask him that question. We need a volunteer for that, a crowd funding effort to kick it off, and a committee to study the question at least six weeks in advance, and dedicate three months to the correct interpretation of the answer. While they are at it, have them ask about flying...

Push to connect tubing connectors by Bill (BT)
Push to connect (ptc) fittings have been around for several years and are becoming very popular for general plumbing. I decided to try them for panel plumbing on the Duck Hawk since space is limited behind the panel. I also used small diameter tubing since I have no flow based instruments. The...
