Toss and Turn Logger - Did you get enough sleep last night? by son_of_flubber
An important but difficult question to answer is "How well did I sleep last night?" It would be nice to have some objective measure of that other than "clock time" because sleep quality varies. I've been experimenting with an Ipod Touch App that uses the accelerometer to log my "tossing and...

(USA) FlarmNet usage by 2NO
I can't find any recent discussions on FlarmNet, which is plugged in the Butterfly display manual. Are most USA PF users registering on FlarmNet.org? How is the .bnf file installed? Is it used by the BF display, or by the PF core? Most importantly will it make me fly faster???

LX7007 speed-to-fly problem, revisited ... by 2NO
I had a pair of seemingly disjoint flight data problems through Saturday and I’m curious whether their absence on Sunday had them connected in some way. My setup: LX7007 Pro IGC (ver 2.01) providing NMEA and LXWP* sentences to an Oudie (SeeYou Mobile, latest version). I use the LX for general task...

Looking for Bill Holbrook by CTEX
Last week I bought the SGS 1-35 Bill flew in the Smirnoff race in 1975 and would like to visit with him about the glider. That is, if he's still with us. I tracked down a Bill Holbrook of about the right age in Tucson, wife named Sophie. No listing in his name and her's isn't published. So far...

SGS 2-33 Canopy movement limiting cable failed... ensueing damage by son_of_flubber
This is probably common knowledge for some, but it caught my club by surprise. It is easy prevent this damage by replacing the canopy cable before it fails. The cable that limits the canopy movement when the canopy is open failed. The canopy flopped over and slammed into the horizontal tube that...

Oh Gapa Geezer... by Tony[_5_]
Where are you? Haven't heard much from you this spring but surely you and sidekick Bart are busy getting the PW-2 tuned up and ready to go???? After getting inspired by Gordon and Hugh's big flight to Colorada and then John and Dan's flight from Ohio to New Jersey I decided that the midwest was...

FLARM 2.79 beta by Andy[_1_]
Evaluated with portable only. There is a very significant improvement in PCAS performance in this build. This morning, while monitoring the KPHX arrival, I consistently saw approaching traffic appear at 4-5 miles and approx 6000ft unless another PCAS target was a higher priority. On the other...

Glider Mayday...Texas Panhandle...4/28/13 by RAS56
Traveling home today on my regular airline run from Tokyo, as we passed the eastern Texas panhandle, we heard a weak "mayday" call on VHF guard. Although we (and several others, including ground agencies out of Lubbock and Amarillo) replied, we never got a response back from the pilot. Perhaps too...

LS1 F glider - question on spar pins by [email protected]
Hi We just bought a LS1f with a partner. I noticed that the 2 spar pins are not exactly of the same lenght, overall one pin is about 1 inch longer than the other one. I would need advice from a LS1 F owner if he knows the reason behing this and where the longer spin goes. Does it goes on the right...

Master Switches by K
Just finished a panel upgrade on a Normal category (Not Experimental). One change made was to use PowerFlarm for GPS logging and glide computer. My master switch is a 3 position switch (Bat 1, Off, Batt 2). My old Volkslogger had no problem with swtching batteries as long as I flipped the switch...

LX logger issues after PF install ... related? by 2NO
Since installing my PowerFlarm Core I've had a frustrating problem with my LX7007: it goes into "in flight" mode when sitting still on the ground, leaving me unable to access flight logs, update flight info, or do any transfers. I basically have to baby-sit the logger, wait for it to believe it's...

Lasham visit May 6-8 by Greg Delp
Flying for work will bring me into London during the beginning of May. I'm considering visiting Lasham for a day or two. I would be interested in working with some of the instructors to fly aerobatics and/or winch launches. This would be a great time for me to add skills which I haven't been able...

FAA Plans to Change to Radios with 8.33 MHz spacing? by Paul Remde
Hi, I imagine someone on this newsgroup can point me in the right direction on a technical/FAA question. Becker offers 2 versions of their AR6201 radio. The original version has frequency spacing that can be set to either 25 mHz or 8.33 mHz. The new, slightly lower cost option has frequency...
