Cherokee 140 - LASAR vs. Powerflow vs. Laminar Speed Kit by
EridanMan
Hey Guys,
So my annual on 'Julie' (A Cherokee 140) is coming in substantially
lower than expected, and it looks like I'm going to have about 4k in
funds freed up that I had already budgeted to spend.
Of course, the sensible side of me says I should save the money for
Fuel... but what fun is...

Cherokee 140 Carb Heat Cable Issue by
ParaPants
Hello,
I have a Cherokee 140, and I think the carb heat cable is not connected
to the handle on the pannel correctly. I have a handle that moves up
and down (not push/pull). Currently the cable was put through the
whole on the back of the lever and bent around it. Shouldn't their be
a...

Cherokee 140 High Oil Temp. Update by
Mike Spera[_2_]
As you may recall, I have been troubleshooting a higher than normal oil temp
in the Cherokee. Checked the baffling, replaced the oil cooler with a new
one, replaced the Vernatherm, checked the oil cooler lines, all with no
luck. Temps stay 1-3 needle marks above 180 degrees which is 1-3 needle...

Cherokee 140 Oil Temp Creeping Up by
Mike Spera
I have owned this Cherokee 140 since 1994. I have logged over 1000 hours
in it through the original and the now installed overhauled engine. Oil
temps were usually at 180 degrees (both engines)when OATs were between
50-80 degrees or so. It would read 1 needle mark higher when it got to
be 95+...

Cherokee 140 Oil Temp Sender by
Mike Spera[_2_]
Still trying to track down a high oil temp reading. I would like to get a
new temp sender to swap out. Too lazy to rig up the hot plate, thermometer,
etc. to test the old one. Part has a number of 362-EW. Same number is on a
friend's Arrow. Methinks most/all cherokees may use the same one....

Cherokee 140 Oil Temp Sending Unit by
Mike Spera
I am in a quest to troubleshoot an oil temp that has crept up a bit in the
last 100 hours or so. Checked all the baffling and"usual stuff". I was going
to check the accuracy of the gauge via testing.
2 things that I cannot find: the part number of the oil temp sending unit
and a supplier. This...

Cherokee 180 by
Steven Barnes
Well, I'm jumping into aircraft ownership (co-ownership, 2 other
"partners"). I put the deposit down on a Cherokee 180 yesterday. Hope to
have everything finalized by next weekend. Someone posted where the Piper
owners club's web site was some time back, but I missed it. Can someone post
it...

Cherokee 180 dash heating problem by
Chuck
Hey Cherokee owners,
Has anyone run into a problem with the whole dash and all avionics
heating up???
Since I bought the plane this past summer, I thought all the heat
build up was due to our famous San Antonio summer weather. But I flew
into a cold front last night and the temp went down below...

Cherokee 180 prop RPM by
Nathan Young
I have a '71 PA28-180, with a fixed 60" pitch Sensenich prop. This is
the standard cruise prop for a PA28-180.
The POH indicates that 2700 RPM should only be able to be achieved
through 7000ft DA.
I am able to hit redline (2700 RPM) in level flight up to 11500 feet
density altitude. POH...

Cherokee 180 soft brake - causes? by
Nathan Young
I have a 1971 Piper Cherokee 180.
I changed the oil earlier this week, and then taxiied around the
airport as part of my runup check.
During this process, I noticed that upon first application - the right
brake is soft. Pumping the brake pedal gets the pressure back, and
then it works ok. ...

Cherokee 235 vs Trinidad vs Comanche by
Douglas Paterson
Hello, All!
About a year ago, I started airplane shopping. For personal and
professional reasons, I had to back-burner that after never getting past the
tire-kicking stage. Along the way, I got a lot of help from folks on this
board, so now I'm returning to the fount as I prepare to begin...

Cherokee 6 by
Steven Barnes
My partners & I sold our Cherokee 180 a couple months ago & have begun
looking for a C-182 (fits our mission profile). A local mechanic also
recommended a Cherokee 6. Most we've looked at have been a bit outside of
our price envelope. We've now found one that's in our price range.
Anyone have any...

Cherokee 6 manual/info? by
Al
It looks like I will have a mission to pick up a PA32-300 on Thurs. Can
anyone point me to an online copy of the flight maual, or perhaps some of
the pertinent information? I've got a couple of hours in a PA32-260 some
years ago, and will have a copy of the manual available when I pick up...

Cherokee alternator bracket replacement by
[email protected]
Hey all... My Cherokee is almost done with the annual, but in the 75 hours
since it was last inspected, the alternator bracket has cracked. It's complicated by
the fact that the plane was originally a PA28-140, but now has a Lycoming O-360-A3A.
So, the parts book doesn't necessary literally apply....

Cherokee ammeter revisted by
Leo
At the suggestion of several on this group I found the problem of a
swinging ammeter on my warrior to be the alternator switch. Now I need
a new switch. To get a new switch I need a part number, as always.
Now I need a suggestion for a vendor for both a part number manual and
a vendor for the...

Cherokee battery box repair by

Hey all... I've got the plane down for an annual and have discovered a small
weeping leak in the bottom of the battery box (where the drain nozzle attaches). Am I
correct in recalling that the box is made of tin and the nozzle of copper? Will
regular Lead/Tin (60/40) solder this, or do I need...

Cherokee Electric Pitch Trim by
Jonathan Goodish
I have a 1977 Archer II with factory-installed electric pitch trim. The
trim servo motor works in both directions, but it doesn't work well for
moving the cables. When the ambient temperature is warm, the electric
trim works acceptably but occasionally seems to "slip," and when it's
cold, I can...

Cherokee exhaust repair? by
[email protected]
Hey all... I'm thinking it's getting close to where the mufflers in my Cherokee 180 could stand
to be repaired/replaced. Any thoughts on a good place to have it done? This is the dual-muffler style
as is on the clamshell-cowled later -180's.
Also, I'd be interested to find out if there's any...

When I had my tanks out in 1999 for the paint job and hose replacement,

wrenches said that getting the screws around the sending unit to seal
completely was...
