weight and balance question by
Duster
Our club needs to do a weight and balance on our Grob 103 after refinishing and some other mods. We are wanting to use calibrated/certified scales, but the cost of having it weighed or purchasing a set of scales is quite high.. What have others done to get their W&B completed yet not break the...

Testing an electret microphone? by
[email protected]
My radio stopped working. I'm transmitting, but with no audio. I think it's probably the mic, but there are some other components between the mic and the radio. Is there some way I can test my electret mic to confirm it's actually the mic before I order a replacement? From what I understand...

Photocromatic sunglasses by
5Z
In another thread, some folks mention flying with these "light
sensitive" glasses.
I have a pair, but find I must use clip-ons while driving, as the
glasses apparently react to UV, and the car's windows filter most of
it. I have also found that same effect, though a bit milder in the
sailplane. ...

First hand information on A21 at San Geronimo, Texas by
James Romano
I am (was) the other owner of the Caproni that went
down at San Geronimo AirPark. I'd like to provide factual
information that may prevent some rumors that appear
to be floating around.
There were four of us that assembled the Caproni.
My partner in the aircraft, his business partner, and
my son....

Re Artical Tailplane/Elevator tubublators by
Ronald E Baker
To all those who responded re original article I offer my apologies. There
were two articles, and to use an Aussie expression they have gone
"Walkabout" or just plain "Missing". I will still keep searching, and will
let you know if or when I find them. Sincerely, Ron Baker (Australia)

iPAQ logger problem (no G-record) by
Mike Yankee
Perhaps some knowledgeable person can help me with this. I recently
started using an iPAQ with GPS_LOG WinCE interfaced to a Garmin II.
Before flying with it, I did a test run over the hills in my car; it
logged the trip perfectly and the log included the G-record. I then
flew with it and it...

Jantar (was Cirrus v ASW) by
Jono Richards
Jeff,
A Jantar is a fantastic machine, with good performance
for the price. Shame you cant use one with a 'normal'
canoy, but really and truly a split canopy is of no
hindrence what-so-ever. With regards to tipping over
- its probably the least of your worries if you are
landing in a field where...

I need to be in the San Diego area for a conference in early March and
am contemplating taking a few extra days off and driving down there

this before, going to Pasadena and flying two days at Great Western

Today I took a step toward settling a question I've had for a long

PA: Aircraft calling Pitt, say again call sign.

Forthcoming BBC Radio program by
Martin Gregorie
Those of you who can (but don't) listen to BBC Radio 4 may be
interested to know that there's a program, "The White Stuff", on
Monday 17 May about clouds. It may be good, it may be terrible. Who
knows? But now you know about it.

Help- was aktywni polscy szybownicy. by
Stanislaw Kochanowski
Hi Dave (Martin),
My compliments to Jan Szladowski (whom I know) and
your very good self.
'Kwadrat', in Polish, is a 'square' - as in the geometrical
figure with four, equal, sides.
In the gliding context, it refers to the launch point.
