What does "below the line" mean, apparently with reference to checklists?

How does pilot get HALF a type rating? by
Shelly
When I asked an airline caption how many type ratings he held, he told me,
"Actually, I have 6 and a half,
figure that one out."
Well, I went to Google to try to figure it out and came up empty-handed, so
can someone please enlighten me?
I'm gonna guess that everything was done in a...

FAA out of control by
TheTruth[_2_]
According to press reports to date, no less than 6, perhaps
more, commercial jet aircraft potentially carrying hundreds
of passengers per trip and sometimes on multiple trips per
day - had cracks in them. Had cracks in them. And people at
the FAA, and Southwest, knew it. And the planes had...

Come see us at Oshkosh by
[email protected]
I posted earlier in response to a message from Jay Honeck telling him
to come by our booth at Oshkosh and say high, not meaning to make a
public announcement about a new product we are introducing at Oshkosh,
but it was quickly noticed by others and I was told I was being coy.
I just didn't want to...

Prop sync and noise in twins by
Mxsmanic
I note that the Baron (and presumably other twins) has a prop sync switch that
somehow synchronizes the prop speeds on both engines. From recordings I've
heard of the interior noise of the aircraft, it does sound as though props
that are just slightly out of sync can produce a very irritating...

Aircraft as mobile homes by
Mxsmanic
I was thinking today, first about independent truck drivers, then about those
people who sell (almost) all they own and buy a huge RV. In the case of truck
drivers, they often have expensive, fancy rigs complete with bed, television,
and other amenities that make their trucks a kind of home away...

Our Worst Nightmare? by
alank
Pick One :
1 - Avgas goes to $10
2 - User Fees
3 - Mxsmanic gets a AOPA membership (get a free hat), a pilots book (not a
simulated one), and finally, a "drive" in an actual airplane with an
instructor.......

Avgas Coming Down? by
Jon Kraus
Here in Indianapolis I have seen Mogas go down from $3.20 a gallon to
$2.50 and it appears that it will keep on dropping.
On the other hand at my home base I just filled up for a trip and still
are paying $4.50 a gallon. Has anyone noticed if Avgas is coming down
too? Maybe it has to do with...

GA _is_ safer than some modes of transport. Was: Tragedy by

Statistically, GA is the most dangerous of all

Reasonable debate!? You obviously haven't seen _any_ debate, reasonable
or otherwise, to spout such sweeping and easily...

Flying as Therapy by
Jay Honeck
It was the day from Hell. From the moment I arrived at the Inn on our
"Monday morning" (in real life, Friday), literally everything that could go
wrong, did.
Everything from an overnight guest, on the lam from the law (and who needed
to be arrested *here*, of course, for all to see), to a major...

Aviation Movies? by
Dave Burton
Here is you chance to suggest movies to show at a fly-in. I'd
appreciate any suggestions for newer movies, available on DVD or video
tape. We've seen all the oldies. I've got to stick to PG films for
the most part since this will be visible to the CAP cadets and anyone
else still up after dark. ...
