Questions for EDS D1a users... by
Marc Ramsey
I used the EDS D1a that came with my DG-600 for the first time,
yesterday. This was a 6 hour flight in the 15 to 17.9K range. Up to
this point, all of my gliders have been equipped with continuous flow
systems and Oxymizer cannulas. This EDS setup was using the standard
XCR regulator, supplied...

2006 Region 8 Contest - Day 1 by
Jay
2006 Region 8 Soaring Championships
Ephrata, Washington
June 26, 2006 - Day 1
Greetings from sunny Ephrata where the sun is shining, the thermals are
booming and the pilots are guardedly celebrating a fantastic day of
soaring. I say guardedly because as I type this, the scores have not
yet been...

I just heard, through a friend, that there was a glider accident
reported in a San Antonio, TX paper. Maybe at the Boerne field?
Something about a wing coming off on tow. Anybody have any

Opinions on fleet replacement strategies. by
Bruce Greef
I have been involved in discussions at a couple of clubs looking at the
inevitable replacement of wood and fabric trainers.
There are many, often polarised views on subjects like:
Whether we should ever plan on replacing the K13
Whether Scheibe Bergfalkes are worth keeping.
The "XYZ" trainer is a...

SNAV-LNAV low memory-battery voltage message? by
Steve Leonard
Did you check the contacts in the S-Nav? Maybe they
have some corrosion on them, causing the vario to see
lower backup battery voltage.

Ted, your LX logger......... by
[email protected]
Ted, I watched your flight. At the WGC 2006, in the 18 Meter class, AS,
would do the same as yours. His logger is a LX( the model I don't
know. I have his igc file, and flight properties show it to be a LX.)
and the vertical climbs are the same. What Eric says, could be true,
as even if the...

Anyone have a good Ridge Training presentation or book by
Papa3
I'm working on a safety presentation for our club on Ridge Techniques,
do's and don'ts, etc. I have in my personal libary Tom Knauff's
"Flying the Bald Eagle Ridge," which has several useful diagrams
illustraing things such as offsets/gaps, bends in the ridge, etc.
Ideally, I'd love to reuse...

SNAV-LNAV low memory-battery voltage message? by
Stewart Kissel
I had my SNAV send the low memory-battery message and
shut down and restart while flying. I dutifully replaced
the battery and still get the same message...I checked
the replacement and it is 3.4 volts on the amp-meter.
The manual says the message is only generated if power
less then 2.2 volts. ...

Flash flood Alamogordo, NM # 711 reporting by
[email protected]
Marble canyon, which is up behind my home, got hit with 5-8
inches of rain and hail in less that an hour. A wall of water came out
of the canyon, and took out numerous homes. It happened in a very short
time frame. Cars were floating down the street, with people still in
them. The dry raven that...

Just did some business with Paul at Cumulus Soaring. He

checked out, the charges for shipping were $5.95., But they turned out
less, so he refunded that amount...

Region 9 Grand Canyon Flights by
Mike the Strike
A spectacular end to a week's fine soaring at the Region 9 contest in
Arizona saw over 20 gliders on a 500km task that took them up on the
high country with a final turn close to the south rim of the Grand
Canyon. It was my first trip so close to the canyon and what a
remarkable flight. Also note...
