Duster
wrote:
I just heard, through a friend, that there was a glider accident
reported in a San Antonio, TX paper. Maybe at the Boerne field?
Something about a wing coming off on tow. Anybody have any
information.

WGC Day 11 Tasks Set by
Duster
Tasks have been set for Day 11 at the Uvalde contest. All seem to be
AAT's; with the Open Class up to 744km!
The official website seems to have Day 3 tasks posted, but see
http://www.soaringspot.com/wgc20112/results/open/task/day11.html

WGC Gates open Friday by
Duster
Long AAT tasks assigned; all gates open, but so far no takers (2pm
cst). I think there was concern about a seabreeze front coming in, but
satellite looks like some nice cus and poss cu-streets developing
everywhere, perhaps until late evening.
The official WGC website has all but been abandoned....

Soaring Utah? by
Duster
I often see that there is soaring activity in Parawan, Utah and believe the Aux-powered contest was recently held there. Which glider club operates out of there or is it only used on occasion? I plan on travelling through the area and am aware of the 3 glider clubs around Slt Lake City. Which ones...

weight and balance question by
Duster
Our club needs to do a weight and balance on our Grob 103 after refinishing and some other mods. We are wanting to use calibrated/certified scales, but the cost of having it weighed or purchasing a set of scales is quite high.. What have others done to get their W&B completed yet not break the...

Grob 103 Canopy release failure by
Duster
Our club Grob 103 Twin III canopy lock/unlock mechanism (front seat) failed on the ground when someone tried to open it. Upon close inspection, one of the 2 hidden bolts closest to the handle had gradually been cut through by the lever action to the breaking point. Though we found a way to replace...

Wanted: Grob 103 elevator by
Duster
Oooops.......severe hangar rash has resulted in a crushed elevator on our Grob 103 Twin III. A repair is being considered, but it will be both costly and lengthy. Anyone know of an elevator that might be for sale? .....even a minimally-damaged one?
Thanks,
Michael

Parachute question by
Duster
I'm planning on purchasing a new or used parachute to replace mine that
does not fit the contours of my ship. My question pertains to the
accepted longevity of emergency parachutes which I've often heard is
about 20 years. Because mine is 27 years old, I was just about to toss
my Security 250 in...
