Fastest way home? by JJ Sinclair[_2_]
The last day at Montague was spectacular, probably the best soaring day I have ever seen! After flying 7 assigned turn-points in an 8-turn (3hr) MAT, I was 45 miles out with 3500' over MC-3 glide home and the SN-10 said I would be 4 minutes over the 3 hr minimum time. My stats page told me I was...

RESCED by Brian Brown by JJ Sinclair[_2_]
I just read two great accounts of survival and rescue, Frank (TA) accident review on Soaring Café and a book titled "Rescued", by Brian Brown available at Amazon.com. Frank told how he was able to get coordinates from his SPOT device and Brian told how rescuers "pinged" his cell number and got...

Ballistic Recovery System by JJ Sinclair[_2_]
The Genesis-2 was designed to incorporate a Ballistic Recovery System. My ship and at least one other US Genesis-2 is flying with a BRS installed. I regularly monitor the NTSB accident reports for glider accidents and this month I see 3 Cirrus Design Group accidents. The Cirrus is a power aircraft,...

Rolladen- Schneider LS3A flap seals- Do they really make any difference? by [email protected]
Dick Johnson experimented extensively with sealing the gap between the flaperon and fuselage on one of the very early '3s after he found the polar curve to be erratic in the 70-80kt region. Fitting some rough seals apparently removed a 'notch' in the curve at about 75kts and smoothed the polar...

Sailplane data by JJ21
Hi all, I'm currently doing a project on gliders designed within the last ten years and one of the crucial aspects is knowing the mean camber profile for various lift coefficient calculations. I was wondering whether a) Any modern gliders are using NACA type airfoils? b) Whether anyone knows...

Tail Vent? by jjcact
Has anyone installed a tail vent in a DG-300? Ventilation is weak from the nose vent (especially since canopy sealed) and it appears air doesn't have a path out the tail boom. Bulkhead behind pilot has adequate vent holes into the boom. However, there is a bulkhead at the fin-boom junction, so it...

Hello. New member here. by JJJ
Hello, all. I just discovered this site a few hours ago, spent a few hours poking around here, and joined right up. Permit me to introduce myself, if I may. I took sailplane lessons 40 years ago at Sky Sailing, Fremont, to the point of getting about 4 solo hours in a 2-33, but other things...

Can anyone point me toward a US source for the plug used by DG for battery connections. The male plug has a barrel approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and 3/8 long with a small pin tip extending out about another 3/8.

Is that possible to buy somewhere only the plastic part of the Jantar canopy? I should probably take a look at the "ceebaileys" like the previous post said for the Blanik. But I think it will not be available that way. So I post here to know if anybody have very good condition Jantar canopy...
