B A R R Y
My current home base (a busy Delta airport, which also has a turf
runway) is the temporary base for the Met Life blimp, in town for a
PGA tournament.
Last night, may co-owner calls me from the tie down (in the dark), and
the following conversation ensues:
Him: Check it out! There's a killer...

Landing a rocket ship on the Empire State Building by
Viperdoc
How does one land a rocket ship like the lunar lander on top of the Empire
State Building? What techniques do you use to slow your descent and land on
top of the antenna?
I don't care about any notams, but I suspect they won't apply to landing a
rocket ship.
I actually don't care about your...

Committee Vote on User Fees by
Orval Fairbairn
I got this from AOPA tonight. The Nelson-Sununu amendment to kill the
$25 per flight for turbine-powered aircraft was killed 12-11.
All the usual suspects voted against it:
"We lost a close vote by a margin of 12 to 11 on the Nelson/Sununu
amendment that would have struck the $25 air traffic...

Reference times for Tach Meters by
[email protected]
Relatively new pilot here, trying to optimize flight time/cost for
distance flights.
I belong to a flying club that charges different rates for Tach/
Hobbs. I use the airplane mostly for longer trips (not flight
training anymore), meaning the advantage of the Tach/Hobbs difference
is mostly lost,...

Handling Characteristics of the Flight Design CTSW by
John
A friend and I were discussing the Flight Design CT2K and CTSW LSA's
and he mentioned that he had read in Wikipedia that "The CTSW is
reported to be somewhat more challenging to fly than other LSA, owing
to the higher wing loading and low drag; the low drag increases speed
but requires additional...

Der Synchrophaser! by
TheSmokingGnu
How exactly does a synchrophaser work?
What is it measuring to make its adjustments?
Why does it have to be off for takeoff and landing?
What voodoo is contained therein (and what's the difference between a
mechanical and electronic version)?

The pass at Gorman by
Cecil Chapman
Question for those of you that live in the So Calif area. As early a
morning crossing as possible (taking account winds are low at the 'top')
would seem warranted, but for crossing back to Nor Calif, when is the best
time to head back over the pass for max passenger comfort, on the way back?...

Helicopter Pilot Recieves Medal of Honor by
R. Gardner
Bruce Crandall finally received what I think was long over due! If you saw
the movie "We Were Soldiers", he was the pilot that repeatedly flew back
into the hot LZ to bring in supplies and more importantly flew out wounded.
This was one well deserved medal.
Congrats Bruce
