builders' remorse? by
[email protected]
Hi:
I'm doing research for my latest magazine article and I was wondering
if you could help me. I'm collecting information for people who might
be trying to figure out which kit/plans/finished homebuilt to buy. I
suspect everyone who buys an airplane has a set of factors they're
looking for, but...

Building a composite spar? by
dirigible designer
My dirigible design requires a few long spars curved into C-
shapes. They would be triangular cross-section with their three
faces being about 3 feet wide and 100 feet long. They need to be
light, strong and stiff.
If anyone's has experience building large spars or frame members, I
would...

Building a gas tank by
Lou Parker
I'm at the point where I need to build a gas tank or 2. The sport
plane builder book shows a great way to do a custom tank but materials
it calls for are not listed (or I'm reading it wrong) so, any
recommondations on a foam core that will stand up to gas? Any
recommondations for a fiberglass...

Building a new "Mighty Grape" by
[email protected]
Since many aircraft owners have asked me about building our mogas fuel
truck (which we called "The Mighty Grape" because of its horrible
purple color) I thought I'd post my experiences with bringing our new
"Grape" -- a '95 Toyota T100 -- to life.
The Mighty Grape -- subject of magazine articles...

Building Airplanes... by
Richard[_8_]
I've been sailing now for 5 or 6 years.
Boats are fun, and the girls come along!
But I've been getting the itch to build another flying machine.
Maybe the YB-1 Stealth Biplane?
Or a WW-I sorta replica.
One more time?
Before I'm too old to cut the aluminum?

Building an electronic Angle of Attack indicator by
Mike[_27_]
Has anyone built an electronic angle of attack meter kit. It seems to
be something that would be easy to design but beyond my feeble
electronics background.
I have seen the products that are out there and they are simple
differential pressure gauges and are expensive. I don't like the
round...

Building the Po' Boy Bending Brake by
Veeduber
The Po' Boy Bending Brake
Scratch-build an airplane out of aluminum, you gotta bend some tin. Narrow
bend, short piece, you can use a vise. Longer pieces you generally use a
bending brake, even if you have to make one up. Make it out of metal, you call
it a brake and it tends to hang around the...

Bum Dope by

23 October 2003
I recently told a fellow he should be using a different cam in his engine.
Later messages made it clear I had been talking to the wrong guy. (I get lots
of mail.) Trouble is, now I can't remember WHO I was talking to. So here's a
general retraction, cross-posted.

Burt Rutan in a movie credit this week by

I went to the Dollar Theater this week ($2 Tuesdays) and saw "Fracture"
starring Anthony Hopkins.
At the very end of the credit scroll, in big letters, it said something
like...
Special thanks to:
