Andy Durbin
The US Schleicher dealer warned me of a problem with the stick mounted
trim lever. If the trim is full forward the instument console will
hit the trim lever when the canopy is closed. I heeded the warning
and avoided breaking it for over 2 years. My luck ran out last week
when, as I rushed to...

Dittel - Great Customer Service (UPS - not so much) by
V1[_2_]
I think companies should get credit for good customer service and
should suffer the public consequences of poor service. In my recent
experience, Dittel gets top marks, UPS flunks.
I returned my FSG2T Dittel radio from the US to Germany for the
service bulletin repair (details discussed on r.a.s...

PIK 20 and 3000 hrs limit by
poul g
The company originally responsible for PIK 20 no longer exists. I've
heard, that no procedure to extend the 3.000 hrs limit has been
established, and that consequently ships after this limit can only
operate as experimental. Can someone confirm og correct me?
Yours,
/Poul Guldbaek

Emailing contest flight log to scorer by
[email protected]
From the cockpit, I want to transfer my flight log to my phone and email it to the contest scorer.
If your IGC approved logger is Bluetooth equipped and it is paired to your phone, is it just a simple matter of downloading log to phone and emailing the file?
Are there any "security" issues or 3rd...

Riding the wave in an MD-11 by
Gordon Boettger
On a recent leg from the west coast to Memphis (at night of course) playing Santa in a Fedex MD-11, we encountered a nice bounce in the wave crossing the Sangre De Cristo range at FL350. Wave was in the forecast so I got the camera ready as we approached the range. Pretty cool how much energy is...

New Mexico Fire-Devils by
Larry Pardue
Greetings:
Last week, around Wednesday, there was a large grass fire west of Portales,
New Mexico, USA. The wind was around 45 knots and it was warm.
Albuquerque television station KOB aired some video tape of the fire that I
found astounding. They showed two, what I would call, fire-devils. ...

Hi
The elevator balance mandatory mods weigh about 2kg. Thus you would need about
10kg in the nose to balance it. Now my understanding is that if you put weights
on the ends of a long fuselage and spin it there is a tendancy for it to end up
in a flat spin? please correct me if I have this...
