Ethanol by Dave
Where is it dictated that certain states/cities require ethanol in their auto fuel? I've been to the EPA website and get 1000 hits on ethanol, but none which show me the requirements. Thanks Dave

Lycoming 0-320 Exhaust studs working loose by Mike Spera
I have had intermittent problems with 0-320 exhaust studs working loose, usually with overhauled cylinders. I understand it if I have a stubborn nut to remove for a gasket change and the stud comes out with it. I figure that if I reuse that stud/nut again I am asking for it to work back loose...

Cessna PTT switch normal? by Mark Hansen
We have a plane in our club (1978-ish C172N) that has a problem with the pilot's push to talk switch. It is mounted on the yoke handle (as if from the factory, not like an after market). When you press it gently, it works fine. If you press it too hard, the radio continues to send the carrier, but...

Whelen lights by [email protected]
I was just curious about ya'lls experience with Whelen lights on your aircraft. The reason I'm asking is that I work at the USA's largest firetruck manufacturer and I deal with Whelen lights daily. My experience with Whelen lights on firetrucks is that while they tend to be technologically...

exceeding TBO on Continental 0200-A by Marty from Sunny Florida
Hello everyone. I'm continuing my quest to buy the best deal in America today. Another option I've looked at is purchasing a low price Cessna with an engine that's past it's recommended time between major overhaul. Some of the sellers I've spoken with are insistent that recomended times...

12v power port for older Cessna by Marty from Florida
Hey all. I'd like to add a 12v power port to hook up my cell charger/PDA/GPS / hairdryer and marguerita blender. Any advice on how to get this done, or is it a shop item? The plane is a 1982 C152. Thanks in advance, Marty from Drizzling Palm Beach

Genealogy of Piper Aircraft by Mike Granby
Our FBO has a poster on the wall entitled "A Genealogy of Piper Aircraft" or something similar. It shows the various lines of aircraft (PA-28, PA-32 etc) and the various models in that line. I've been trying to find a copy without success. While a quick trip to the color photocopies with the FBO's...

172 owners - End the Draft by Roger Long
Every 172 I've ever flown has had so much air pouring in around the left doorpost that the pilot's air vent was superfluous. I've thought about wearing a ski mask for winter flying. I, and many others, have always thought it was coming in through the stall horn and just something you had to put up...

O300D Aluminum in Oil by Gary Wilcox
Well had my 1st oil change today. Have owned the 1964 172E for just 25 hours. When the filter was cut open we found a few small slivers of Aluminum. When I bought the plane the pre-buy inspection was a complete annual and the mechanic didn't mention any "aluminum in the oil" so apparrantly this...

SpaceShip One - No Pressure Suit? by Carl Orton
Guess the real question is: At what altitude is a pressure suit required? Was SpaceShip One pressurized? All we saw was Melville with an O2 mask. You always see the U2 pilots with full pressure suits, but I guess that could be because of the duration at altitude? Since Melville was only...
