I found the article in the Washington Post interesting: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...070201186.html But the comment right at the end "The Grob Twin Astir, the Cadillac of two-seaters, snapped free, surfing upward on a rising column of warm air" was amusing, because I actually like the Twin :-) Ignoring the comparison (which I think is valid -- if you think a Twin Astir is a "hot ship" you should try a Janus or a Duo Discus), what did everyone think of the article? dan Presuming it was written by a non-soaring-aficionado, superbly done, IMHO. Nicely mixed non-soaring-related, operational facts/contentions with participant-aspects/joys of the sport, while managing to avoid effusiveness or condescension. The writer's journalism teachers might take issue though, cuz I thought a writer's bias in favor of M-ASA's position could be sensed! Regards, Bob W. |
