G1000 simulator

This *is* the semi-free ($3.00) version. Late word from Garmin Tech
suggests the software is flawed and will be fixed for "the next
release".

Doesn't sound like much of an improvement over the semi-free (just pay
shipping) software that I use from Garmin. Every turn is a 45 degree
bank but it very,very correctly recreates the G1000 in every other
detail. I run it on my desktop and my laptop. You can shoot approaches,
etc but the real benefit of the simulator is getting the students used
to navigating the pages, especially if they don't have 430 time
already.

Oh, I thought you bought their $30,000 simulator system. I believe the
Cessna training centers are required to have it.
Yes, you are correct that the software simulator makes a REALLY crappy
flight simulator but it is still a very good procedural simulator. I
find it helpful for students. However, it can be very frustrating to
try to turn knobs in the simulator, its much easier to turn knobs in
real life.
We bought a GPU for the aircraft so we can sit out in the hanger with
students and run through procedures in the actual aircraft w/o having
to worry about draining the battery.
