Default Oshkosh Accommodations?

Here's the good newsˇK I'm asking about the 2008 show.

I'm just wondering if anyone has advice on accommodations. I found the U
of W dorm rooms interesting at $50/night except there's no air
conditioning. I've had people tell me they can get pretty hot in some
years, (I donˇ¦t do hot). I guess they've got some new AC rooms for $75/
night.

In checking motels in Oshkosh and Appleton they seem to be in full on gouge
mode upping the rates from $100 to $200 during the show.

A perfect world for me would be $100 (or less), air-conditioning, a TV and
a less than 30 minute drive to the show.

Am I dreaming?

I stayed at Lawrence University in Appleton in 2005.
http://www.lawrence.edu/community/eaa.Shtml The price for that wasn't
bad. They get $75/night for a single with private bath and $70/night for
a double with semi-private bath. TV is in the common lounge on each
floor though. It is air conditioned.

If you can get a group together, renting a private house may be a good
idea. I've got 6 people, and the house we get is $300/night, so it's
$50/night per person. It's less than 4 miles from the front gate. The
family goes on vacation for the week, and the place is ours.

Of course the farther away you drive, the less the gouge rate is.
Perhaps looking out west on Rte. 21 to Wautoma or 91 to Berlin would
have something more reasonable.

We suffered in the UW-Zero dorms for 34 years. I got turned on to this
little B&B out in Waupaca that is the same price as the dorms, air
conditioned, breakfast comes with, close to Waupaca International, and about
a 45 minute ride to the field coming from the west, which means that you
aren't fighting 90% of the traffic coming in from the east. I'll give a
full PIREP when we get back home, including the trip to and from.

One year we stayed in Fon du loc at Merriam (sp?) College dorms. It was
fine and the continental breakfast that came with the charge was great.
I think the only thing they did not have was eggs, but beacon, sausage,
roles, cerals, etc. There was a shuttle between there and Oshkosh. Gee,
I need to go again some time. It has been a long time.

Thanks, that's a good option... it's beginning to look like a there will
be a pretty good sized group.

No eggs? Well, that does it... I'm not going if there are no eggs.

We're considering renting out a room in our home. We are located just
southeast of the Appleton Airport (KATW). Queen bed with full bath;
Continental Breakfast; Transportation to/from ATW & OSH available; NON-
SMOKING Household; Contact me for more details if interested.
