LX Nav has developed a new naming convention for their vario line up.
All stand alone varios are now prefixed with an "S", so the V7 and V3 are now known as the S7 and S3. If you are looking on the LX Nav website for manuals, you will now find them under their new S designations. The line-up of S varios includes: S3, S7, S8, S80 The "V" prefix is now used for all varios that are connected to the LX90XX/80XX computer systems. The line-up of V varios includes: V5, V8, V9, V80 The "I" prefix is used for all indicators that are connected to any rear seat repeater. Rear seat repeaters are designated with the "D" suffix. So an LX9000D is a rear seat repeater and will have an I9 vario indicator, that may be upgraded to an I8 or I80. The indicators differ in that they do not have the pneumatic connections and sensors and are just slaves to the V or S vario in the front seat. Dave Springford Fox One Corp www.foxonecorp.com |

LX Nav make some nice instruments but I strongly dislike the fact that their standalone varios like the S8 or S80 cannot be connected to LX80xx or LX90xx navigation displays.
This essentially forces one to toss out your expensive S3/S8/S80 standalone vario if you want to add a nav display later on. Not cool! LX Navigation take the compatibility route with their EOS vario. You can purchase the EOS vario which can operate in standalone mode and then add a LX Zeus navigation display later on when you have the cash. Not all of us have $4000 to $5000 to upgrade the entire instrument panel in one go, so this approach makes more sense to penny pinchers like myself. |

Hi Surge,
I must respectfully disagree. The LX Navigation EOS stand alone version is different from the version used with the Zeus. The stand-alone version does not work with the Zeus. I had to order a different version of the EOS for use with my Zeus demo. The good news is that used V7 (name recently changed to S7), S8 and S80 and EOS stand-alone units all have excellent re-sale value on the used market. That makes it pretty painless to go to an LX80x0, LX90x0 or Zeus. Best Regards, Paul Remde Cumulus Soaring, Inc. _______________________________ "Surge" wrote in message ...
