100 LL Replacement? by
Dave[_5_]
I came across an interesting set of slides that go into considerable
technical detail about the problems of coming up with a replacement
for 100LL. The conclusion: Avgas 91/96UL (Unleaded), as apparently now
available in Sweden. Check it out:...

Are there any "pilot" watches that are actually helpful for pilots? by
es330td
I am in the market for a new watch and thought that if I am going to
be a pilot I would see if there was something that I could use to
assist me in flying. My first thought was that something that was
Indiglo with larger numbers so I could see it easily at night would be
good as would one with two...

US airspace under civilian authority...true? by
Charles Packer
Matthew L. Wald, who has covered aviation
for the NY Times for years and years,
in today's Times wrote "Normally, the FAA asks
the Pentagon for use of offshore airspace
on a day-by-day or hour-by-hour basis."
What was he smoking?
I believe it's the other way around, that
by law, US airspace is...

New Bay Area restaurant! (KSTS) by

Hi,
Great news for the Bay Area. I used to enjoy flying to Selinis at KSTS for
lunch, but it closed a while back. I just heard from a WingX customer about
this:

On a nice day (and we still have a few of those before the rain), sitting

Flight schools in the U.A.E. (Dubai, Fujairah) by
sn00p604
Dears,
I thought of taking a course in Dubai or Fujairah (CPL) - is it a good place
to start? Are these schools recognised as a good training place by potential
employers?
Any ideas, comments?
Thanks!

Best Pilot Watch for $100? by
Jay Honeck
My trusty Timex Expedition has finally died, after years of faithful
service. Although it had many features I liked, it was missing a few
things that would be nice in the plane. (Zulu time, for example.)
What's the group-think on this? What watch do you wear/recommend?

The FAA is LYING to America by
EatMe[_2_]
FAA SPIN(LIE) Machine in high gear. I wonder what FAA PR
will say when two airliners do collide somewhere over
America? Maybe they will inform the family and victims it is
a "Rare" event? Notice how the FAA spin(LIE/BS) machine once
again belittles and ignores the controllers staffing plight....

Gentle Green Giant? by
Kingfish
In the last few days I've read a few references in the media about the
A380 that referred to it as the "gentle green giant". Last I knew the
380's engines spewed the same nasty pollutants as any other jet in
service.
Must be the spinmeisters in the Airbus PR office working overtime
again.

Garmin 396 battery question by
Paul kgyy
I bought a 396 at Osh this summer and the battery never shows more
than half charge on the meter. However, if I just let it run, it runs
to its full time, so apparently the internal meter needs to be reset.
Anybody know how to do that? Yep, I did read the manual, couldn't
find anything.

serve as the prototype of a fragile piloted airplane that will circle the
globe on solar power alone.
It will climb during the day to nearly 28,000 feet and descend at night to
