Region 9 Parowan update # 4 by
[email protected]
In the next few days, we again will post a updated pilots list
for Parowan. Its best to remember that the 2004 Regionals at Parowan
only saw 49 show up and the 2005 Sports Class Nationals at Parowan had
only 48 show up. So, both contest's ended up short of the cutoff of 50
entrants. Both were over...

Goddard Cables & Power supply FS by
Discus 44
I have some cables & a PS5a power supply for sale. You can see them
in Cumulus Soaring Classified's. The PS5a power input cable has been
shortened to about 6 to 8 inches. Purchased new in 05. Revised
instruments on my panel and these were no longer used.

Wing Tape - Does Thickness Affect Performance? by
ContestID67
No, this is not SPAM as the subject line might lead one to believe.
;-)
I have seen lots of wing tape. Many of the advertisements are for very
thin and flexible tape which conforms to the curves of the wing.
However, the cost can be prohibitive, especially if you assemble often.
A friend of mine...

Sailpane Hangar for 2 Sailplanes by
Steve Leonard
If you haven't found it yet, Bob, it was in the February
2006 issue of SOARING. And, yes. SCOH has a similar
setup for some of its hangars. Looks like it works
very well.
If you really want to be careful and pack the gliders
in, you can go three deep in a setup like that, as
in this...

Trouble Reaching Caracole? by
309
Anybody else having trouble getting in contact with Caracole Soaring?
When I call the telephone number, the recording says "this wireless
customer is not taking calls at this time..."
My emails are bouncing...
....or am I just being blocked?

OK, A couple years ago I upgraded to a Dell XPS 400. I thought I was

Under that are two lines

Contest Calendar II by
Karl Striedieck
Following my post last week concerning the missing competitions in the SSA
magazine calendar, the February issue arrived with more listings.
Unfortunately, the listings concerning 2007 Mifflin, Ceaser Creek and Hobbs
contests are erroneous. Mifflin is hosting the 15 Meter Nationals (not the...

See and avoid... by
Ramy
An eye opener:
http://www.aviationnow.com/avnow/news/channel_bca_story.jsp?id=news/bca0107c.xml
We are mentioned there as well:
"Most recently, a Hawker 800XP descending into Reno collided with a
Schleicher ASW-27 sailplane near Minden, Nev., a popular soaring
location. Somewhat miraculously the...

how much for auto-tow gear? by
Steve Leonard
Do we really need one, or would it be enough to keep
a pair of cutters handy?
Johan Larson
I would highly discourage that approach. There can
be a LOT of energy in a rope under load and cutting
it may not be so easy.
We use a Schweizer release on a standard 2 inch receiver.

Sailpane Hangar for 2 Sailplanes by
Bob Kibby
I think I remember a posting which described a sailplane hangar for two
sailplanes that were were stored side by side. There was a door on one end
of the hangar and each sailplane was put on a dolly and pushed into and out
of the hangar. Any info or web links to this site would be...

Tie-down and Taxes by
309
I've moved my glider from it's usual place of "nesting" (a hangar in
L.A. County) to a tiedown at Cal City (in Kern County).
Anybody else have any advice on dealing with the tax assessor statement
that came? I moved it up to the highlands in February of 2006, so
technically I think it's a Kern...
