Pegasus life limit by
01-- Zero One
I understand that it is not automatic. that you would have to do the
paperwork, inspections, approvals, etc. But how do people make
alterations to their Standard certification gliders? If I want to add
winglets to my LS-3a, you are saying that it cannot be done (legally, of
course)?
Confused,

A fun (!?) weekend by
[email protected]
What would you have thought, had you seen the following posted on April

A low time pilot (we'll call him Alpha Omega) launches with a dozen
other pilots in the first day of the group's annual contest series. AO
has very little, if any, x/c experience, and only recently bought the

Just wondering..... by
[email protected]
I was just wondering if there are any restrictions on the type of
certificates that a sailplane may have for instruction? How about
taking your flight test or bfr? During hanger chat we discussed the use
of a Blanik thats experimental for instruction and rides....just
wondering if a can of worms is...

Diamond Distance flight plan by
303SAM
I got my Diamond Goal done last year and I'm going for Diamond Distance this
year. I'd like comments on one of the routes I'm considering.
I understand I can have three turnpoints + start/finish. We have prevailing
wind (sea breeze) out of the SE. Good days will see well spaced 3-4 kt
thermals...

the first NAV computer; who built and used one? by
John Firth
Before the Cambridge Nav computer came out there were various speed to
fly devices using vario input, achieved rate of climb, altitude etc.
Does anyone know which were the first built and used?
Thanks

1-35 or 201B by
Waduino
So you have a choice for a first glider. You're flying in northeastern US,
i.e. generally light conditions (when it's not snowing).
These 2 planes have roughly similar performance on paper and prices,
although they probably handle quite differently and I would guess the 1-35
penetrates better....

OLC-Posting flights ending after 2400UT by

Last year I had problems with flights completed on the west coast after
2400UT when another flight was also submitted for the next day.
In my situation I had a great (for me) competition flight which ended
after 2400UT which was submitted and accepted. Then the next day I
attempted to post another...

Maybe back to the LS4 by
Jeff Runciman
Hi guys,
Thanks again for all of the advise over the last few
months. I am now down to the Cirrus, Jantar, and again
the LS4. The only concern about the LS4 maybe the
condition of the gel coat. The Cirrus has a bit of
gel coat cracking, the Jantar has no problems with
the surface (poly paint)....
