EASA Vs FAA by
glider[_2_]
As much as we like to complain about our FAA, we are fortunate to be
in the USA and not going through the insanity of soaring in Europe.
To quote a German friend, "Bureaucrazies are Lifetaking".
The EASA does not seem to have interest in promoting aviation.
We Yankees must stay alert.

Anyone thinking of Parowan scenery for Condor? by
Frank[_12_]
The U.S. Sports Class Nationals will be held next year at Parowan,
Utah. For those flatlanders among us who have never flown in that
terrain, it sure would be nice to fly it in Condor before the
contest.
If anyone is interested in doing that scenery, or would be willing to
help me do it, please...

Ventus B - Fixed to Tilt Panel Conversion by
Ken Kochanski (KK)
Anybody ever convert a fixed aluminum panel to a tilt version - using
the factory or any other design.
Question 2 ... can you replace the aluminum panel with a glass
version ... perhaps with the addition of tabs or stiffeners ...
thanks,

LS parts for sale by
Dave Nadler
Continuing to clean out my shop and basement....
Prices include economy shipping in USA.
LS-6B landing gear structure $75. This is the
welded steel structure that supports the landing
gear (axle) and tow hitch. You know, the part
that bends if you make a hard landing.
Or so I have been told...

DG Service Agreement by
glider[_2_]
If someone can come up with an ethical way for DG to make needed
income in servicing older Glaser-Dirks and Rolladen-Schneider
sailplanes, I am quite sure the DG would be most appreciative.
Yes, I am serious.
Should they charge more for parts? More for shipping and handling?
Charge for...

Crazy Buy of the Week by
brian whatcott
Wondering round the dimly lit used-goods store and there it was - a 40
cu ft nitrogen bottle. The store was in a closing down sale so the
price was right - for a current bottle and regulator.
But then of course, there was the little matter of a coiled air line, an
air chuck, a gas refill...

High Tows by
Steve Leonard[_2_]
Barry,
In one of my favorite books, Richard Miller's "Without Visible Means
of Support", there is a tale of a Russian Glider air/winch/winch tow.
A twin engined towplane, a bunch of wire, a two place sailplane, a
bunch of wire, and a single place sailplane. Tow plane goes as high
as he can go,...

Want a free tow? by
Fred[_5_]
SoaringNV has a pair of LS-4 ailerons at Rick Anderson's Yankee
Composite shop on Lamson Field, near Clear Lake, CA. They're ready
for pickup (and paid for), but I don't have time to drive over and
back right now.
If anyone is dragging a glider trailer from that neck of the woods to
Minden, NV in...

At the request of the SSA Board of Directors, Costello Insurance has
been able to obtain a valuable and very useful benefit for soaring
clubs that are covered under the SSA group insurance plan. Basically,
the enhancement allows a club to provide towing for hire to a member
of another SSA-insured...

Best Buy hack by

While strolling the isles of my local Best Buy store, I noticed a huge
50 inch computer monitor positioned well above the shoppers heads. It
could be seen from anywhere in the store.
I walked over to play with the computer and told the floor salesman
I'd like to play with it for a while.
I set...
