Frank Whiteley
If you have one, or know of one languishing around unused and in need
of work, I know someone who is seeking a rehab project.

OLC Smiley Face by
BravoCharlie
Hi Pilots,
I have tried to contribute twice using the link from the site. It
seemed to work fine except no smiley face and no charges to my credit
card. Has anyone else had this problem? Solutions?
Thanks,
Bob

500km triangle flight HD video by
Bruno
I had a fun 500km FAI triangle flight on Saturday out of Cedar Valley,
Utah to get my Silver badge so I can fly my first contest in Logan in
a few weeks and took an HD video camera along to document the
progress. There was plenty of virga but also crazy strong lift.
Take a look at 3:10 in the...

GPS Out of service?? by
[email protected]
On my last two flights at Marfa Texas May 24 and May 10 I have lost
GPS navagation fixes for a few minutes on both flights. I have two
GPS receivers (cambridge GPS/Nav and a lx-7000) both units lost their
fix at the same time and came back together. Both flights are up on
the OLC if you want...

Duty Roster Procedures? by
ContestID67[_2_]
My club has finally decided to implement a duty roster system for each
Saturday and Sunday operations. This has been a long time in coming
and we will be running a trial in September and October. I have taken
on the task of making this happen. I am interested in your inputs
about how your club...

A fantastic flight, Bruno, and probably qualifies for a lot beyond
Silver. Should easily count for complete Gold Badge, as well as
Diamond Distance and Goal.
Wish it was me ;-)

Looking for a 350x135 wheel by
Tim Mara[_2_]
Looking for a 350 x 135 wheel from a Blanik or Jantar or ? a Good one, or
even a broken or damaged is OK as long as it's a complete wheel (no brakes
or brake hub is needed). This is needed so we can try to get new cheaper
replacement tires made for these gliders. If anyone has one lying around...

EAA "Sport Aviation" Articles by
ContestID67[_2_]
There are two soaring related articles in the July issue of EAA "Sport
Aviation". Good to see this type of press in a widely read aviation
magazine.
The first article (by Jim Busha of Austin MN) was about the all metal
light sport Zenos which has a 45 foot (13.7m) wings. 24:1 glider
ratio. Kit...

I need to mount a compass on the instrument panel glare shield. There

Performance loss versus yaw string deflection by
Eric Greenwell
I don't recall ever seeing an estimate of the performance loss in a
glider as a function of yaw string deflection. Does anyone know what it is?
Ultimately, I'm wondering how much attention should be paid to
deflections of, say, 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", etc., on the usual 4"-5" long yaw
string.

A fair opportunity to compete? by

(US) rule 11.1.1 states; A valid competition day is one in which every
regular entrant is given a fair opportunity to compete. What is the
definition of fair? I can tell you what I have used as CD in 3
nationals and several regionals over the last 35 years. The launch
should go without interuption....

Best winch metrics - what is the best winch operationally? by
Bruce
OK so time to start a new thread.
I submit that the best winch I have ever driven, been launched by etc is
the home built single drum monstrosity currently at Parys.
Metrics used to come to this conclusion would be safety and cost / launch.
It was built in the 1960s by Hans Lobach while he was...
