Re Soaring safari suggestions by
John Dezzutti[_2_]
Matt,
I would suggest entering a regional soaring contest.
I have never failed to have an enjoyable time at a
contest. You can fly in sports class to get your feet
wet, get plenty of help and support from the other
pilots, fly as long or short a task as you feel comfortable
(with all the circles...

Soaring safari suggestions? by
Matt Herron Jr.
Two years ago, My friend Morteza Ansari and I took off from the bay
area for a 8-9 day soaring safari to Parowan Utah. It was a fantastic
trip, with incredible scenery and stunnng XC soaring, perfectly suited
to our budding XC experience.
This year, we are looking for another adventure spot. ...

Central Florida, learning to fly? by
[email protected]
Hi, I'm 36 and have decided I've waited long enough to learn to fly.
When I was young I wanted to fly jets like most kids but then reality
got in the way. Fortunately, I've always loved soaring too ... I've
been flying r/c sailplanes for 10 years.. so maybe time to stop
playing with toys and fly...

Repainting a LARK by
Zoltan T
Does anyone have experience repainting a Lark (IS-28B2)
wing?
I know some other metal gliders have their wing profiled
with filler, so any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Zoltan

Angle of attack by
Bill Daniels
The threads on this subject has uncovered something that gives me chills.
Internationaly, gliding has an abominable safety record. Many fatal
accidents have as their root cause, failure by the pilot to maintain flying
speed or, stated more directly, control his angle of attack. Clearly, based...

Grob gelcoat by
Gary Emerson
Greetings,
Historically, older German gelcoat has failed pretty spectacularly going
from a dry climate to a hot/humid gulf coast environment.
On the other hand, Grob gelcoats seem to hold up much better in general.
Many late 70's 102's still look pretty good.
Does anyone have any experience...

Interested in soaring safety? Read this by

There is not one mention of gliders in the following article. If this
doesn't convice you, your students, or the undisciplined pilots in
your community to get with the program I don't know what will.

Looking for parachute by
Ron Gleason
I am looking for a parachute. I am need a chair style chute like the
Strong Chair 305. I recently sold my back pack style chute as my
DG303 is a reclined position and a back pack style rides up and

SSA Leadership after 12/31? by
Bullwinkle
Fellow soaring fans,
Early in the course of the SSA crisis, involving embezzlement and fraud on
the part of the SSA's CFO, the entire Executive Committee committed to
resign before the end of this calendar year (except Phil Umphries, who was
too new to have been tainted by the scandal).
Since...

HELP PROMOTE SOARING Glider Ride or Lesson for Christmas by
[email protected]
Make sure that the company selling a soaring flIght gift certificate
does indeed have a "participating" gliderport where you intend it to
be used. (Some just claim to)
Or, better yet, buy directly from the gliderport.
Only one commercial soaring business in Southern Nevada.

Gelcoat sag? by
[email protected]
Hey guys. I've got a question regarding wing "waviness". I've got an
LS1f with very good gelcoat condition. However, if I look down the
wing long-ways, just above the leading edge I can see what looks like
a series of 4"-6" diameter lumps (for lack of a better term). They're
somewhat regularly...
