Latest statistics on our numbers by
Stewart Kissel
http://www.glidingmagazine.com/FeatureArticle.asp?id=400
The current issue of Soaring had an interesting article
by Chris Woods about this topic. When attempting to
describe soaring I use the analogy of comparing sailboats
to motorboats, not sure how accurate this is but it
seems to occasionaly...

Latest version of BLAST by
Chuck Deerinck
BLAST is a program that I wrote to convert Dr. Jack's Blipmap data
into OpenAir format files, so you can see the forecast in 2D or 3D in
SeeYou.
Just as an FYI, I have just posted Patch version 40 of BLAST. The new
version now supports ETA Blipmap data as well as the RUC Blipmap data.
So now you...

Launch Order by
Walt Connelly
Just curious as to how it's done elsewhere. I fly at a commercial operation and the priority for launch always goes to the school gliders....this makes sense...the student has scheduled for a specific time days in advance.... Next come the renal ships and glider rides and they too have been...

Launch point logging software flight accounting by
stevehaley
Like many clubs mine blows hot and cold on using launchpoint logging
software.
At present we have a legacy system handling flight recording from
paper records taken at the launch point with a link to our accounting
system which was written by a club member who left some time ago and
the system...

Launchpoint 200 by
Ramy
Is anyone using Launchpoint 2000 logbook successfully with Vista? I've
been using it for years on my XP computer but it will not work on my
new Vista notebook. It keeps complaining about COMDLG32.OCX.
Unfortunately the software is no longer supported.
Otherwise, any recomendation for a good logbook...

LaunchPoint 2000 ? by
Dave Boulter
Hi,
I was using this for my logbook. It comes from the UK. I just changed
laptops and I kept the dat file but need a registration key. The website
www.launchpoint2000.com or similar seems to be down and they dont seem to
advertise in Sailplane and Gliding anymore.
Any thoughts?

Law of Primacy by
[email protected]
I guess we are all pretty much in agrement that the law of primacy
makes it just about impossible for anyone who learned glider flying
with 0 altimeter to ever be able to fly with MSL altimeter, because
under pressure, he will revert back, and death, distruction, disaster,
etc will ensue.
With the...

Lawrenceville Flooding? by
[email protected]
I've heard that things are getting a tad damp around the home of
Wabash Valley Glider Club at Lawrenceville Illinois. I'm hoping the
hangers full of airworthy vintage sailplanes aren't flooding. News
anyone?

Lawyers Flying Gliders by
Matt Herron
This is a bit wierd, but a friend and I can think of no lawyers who
fly gliders. We can think of plenty of doctors and gobs of engineers,
but no members of that darker profession. Is it just us, or is there
something about soaring that excludes lawyers? Aversion to risk??

Lead Flight Director, Space Shuttle Operations adds a glide rating by
Jim Logajan
Spotted this unintentional(?) plug for gliding on the main RV homebuilt
site:
http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=45291
The poster is the Lead Flight Director, Space Shuttle Operations. Doubt
that many RV builders will suddenly be tearing the engines out of their RVs
