PW6 front seat spoiler guiding rod by
Segelflieger
Has anyone in the soaring world experienced a PW6 spoiler's guiding rod detaching from the fuselage wall in the front seat?
Is anyone still representing these gliders in the US?
Do they manufacture them still?
There are some ADs on PW5/6 rod attachments, what else?
Why can't I find any recent...

Opposite Direction Landing Operations - Efficiency? Geography? by
LBC
A question for all of you who fly various places around the US and world-
My question is regarding tow operations where launching/landing gliders use one runway end (likely, the end heading into the wind), and the landing towplane uses the opposing runway direction (likely, landing downwind.)
If...

New type of cloud discovered by
Steve Leonard[_2_]
I have discovered a new type of soaring cloud. I was not able to take a picture of it for official submittal, but I am sure you have all likely seen them before. I believe it is called a "Retirement Cu". Why? Well, it is big, mature, and it is what we all strive for. Looks like the lift you...

C-182 towplane by
[email protected]
Good used Pawnee tugs are getting rare. Actually, very rare. What else is there that isn't 50+ years old?
There is a C-182 at Nephi hauling skydivers which has Wing-X wing-tip extensions which increase its load capacity, rate-of-climb and ceiling. It is said this also makes a C-182 into a good...

OLC FAI triangle geometry different than FAI by
[email protected]
Last Saturday, I had a pretty decent flight:
http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?dsId=4611408
At the end of the day, I was trying to maximize OLC points by making the triangle portion as large as possible. I used the ClearNav "OLC" feature to see how I was doing and to...

Solar power for the Zaon MRX collision avoidance system by
Soartech
I know they stopped making the Zaon MRX but I think it is a great little device. I'm sure there are lots of us out there that use one. However it eats up a pair of AA batteries fairly quickly. I didn't want to connect it to my 12 V battery as that is just one more load on the system. Because the...

Making corrections to US Sectional Charts by
Steve Koerner
Submitting corrections is quite easy. Just send a brief email to the address below stating the problem and the chart at issue.
For us glider pilots, the most important problems on the charts are old airstrips which have become unlandable for one reason or another. When...

Oxygen system in ASW-27 ASG-29 by
[email protected]
Recently acquired an ASG-29 (ASW-27-18)and unable to mount O2 regulator on bottle behind seat back. Not enough room with seat back in aft position. How have other 27/29 owners solved this problem? Flex high pressure line? If so, where was it purchased?
Thanks

ASK-21 and Grob 103 cockpit ballast weights by
kirk.stant
Our club (St Louis Soaring Association) is looking for a set of
factory ASK-21 ballast weights, the triangular lead plates with a long
pin that screws into a fitting under the pilots knees. We recently
acquired an older ASK-21 and it didn't come with any.
Ditto a set of the factory Grob 103...

Powerflarm Butterfly rectangular display by
[email protected]
Anyone have the above item in good working order that wants to sell it inexpensively? I have broken mine (I think by kicking it while getting in). I see that Craggy Aero has discontinued them for different styles and Cumulus wants too much to order one. I will try and repair the one I have but...

Taking micrologger abroad by
JS
Things that small will not be a problem. Lithium glider batteries are another story.
The Handpresso Hybrid is the thing security seems to like most in my carry-on, but while pulling shots of espresso at 39,000' I've probably sold a few to flight attendants.

Source of L'Hotellier Fittings? by
Six-Seven Romeo
Anyone know of a source for new l'hotellier fittings?
I received an email from the son of an home builder in the Ukraine asking about a source for these fittings. He found my name from my web site where I described adding wederkind sleeves to l'hotellier fittings on a DG glider.
One possible...

Flight line trailer ideas required by

Our present flight line trailer is 35+years old and our membership would like a change. Included is a recent foto of the trailer. There is a roof mounted solar panel for the radio/P.A. system and a weather station. Members find it too high and one has to look up to our flight line manager. One...
