Cal(E)fornia has a new Gov(E)nator by
JJ Sinclair
Arnold has sworn to repeal the tripling of our car tax, so we will still be
able to drive to the gliderport. So there, It's about soaring! No hate mail,
please. I hear N(E)vade is working on a new Governator also.

Wax group/South African World's video scammer/non-delivery of goods by
John
Anyone out there that can lend a hand with the non-delivery of the video?
Anyone out there actually received the promised video and/or book?
I sent a credit card payment in good faith well over a year ago, and
haven't received a thing.
Some contact with Carol Clifford and her attempts to...

Volkslogger wiring by
POP_Server=pop.clara.net
Does anyone have the pin out for the older style Volkslogger plug that used
the 5 pin screw on plug assembly.
The manual only refers to a colour code factory lead.
Many thanks

My Etrex Vista has a final glide program. Has anyone used this program, if so
how did you set it up? There isn't anything written on or off line, and the
techs are a little vague.

Where to go for Diamond Altitude ? U.S. by
Mark Zivley
With local cloudbase rarely over 7k, I'm going to have to go somewhere
else for Diamond Altitude. I figure I might as well freeze someone
else's gelcoat so I'm looking for a commercial operation, preferably
someplace close to an airport served by Southwest Airlines.
Thanks for the advice and note...

Mountain High by
Rod
Anyone know if Mountain High has gone out of business? I've sent a few
messages to their contact address: and never get a
response.
Any clues? One of my EDS units has converted itself to a constant flow
system.

Assymbly Wing Insertion Order Question by
Tony Verhulst
I have seen many ship's assembly procedures that dictate the "non"
forked spar be inserted first, then the forked spar. This seems
counter intuitive (to me), and must be for a reason. Anyone know what
that reason is?
The owner didn't read the flight manual.
I know the owner (LS4-b) and...

Pegase (Pegasus) 101A....opinions? by
Gary Evans
Good glider, performance and value. Wing flex provides
a smooth ride. Centrair is still in business and parts
are available. The only down side to me was with the
CG tow hook which needs a fast start to gain rudder
control.

History of Contest Scoring by
Bill Feldbaumer
Recent discussions about contest scoring have shown that it might be
beneficial to review the history of contest scoring in the U.S.
Here is a very brief overview.
The first U.S. National Soaring Championship was held at Elmira, New
York, seventy-three years ago. Three tasks were used:...

Palm PDA and GPS unit for sale with Soaringpilot software installed. by
Siggi Ingason
Hi,
I've got a Palm Vx and GPS companion unit (which fits onto the back of the
palm) for sale, as I've just completed my first 50K from Lee on Solent to
Parham, I found it invaluable, as I would not have found the Parham site
without it. The only reason I'm selling the Palm and GPS unit is because...

"Pan turbulence" by
Martin Gregorie
Some time back I saw a magazine article about something mysterious
called "pan turbulence" that bit airliners in clear air, often
somewhere in the middle of the USA.
Could this have been plain old rotor by any chance?
I was reminded to ask this by the message about the "Rodeo In The Sky"
TV...

Dittel radio Q by
ken ward
I have one of the older rectangular box Dittels. They slide into a tray
which mounts to the panel. To secure the radio box to the tray, there's
a screw which pivots a little aluminum tab into a locking position.
My aluminum tab is stripped out. Where can I get a replacement? I
guess I could...

Gravity launch by
Mark James Boyd
I'm wondering if anyone regularly rolls gliders
down a cliff for launch.
I was thinking that a suitable slope off the edge of a cliff
would work just as well as any tow/winch/auto/bungee/rotax.
And if there is reliable lift nearby, you can come back and
land.
I know this is commonly done with...

WAX ? by
JJ Sinclair
I'm new to this sport and have a few questions about waxing my ship. Some say
NEVER wax because if you ever get wet, you will come down like a STONE. Others
say you MUST wax to ward off the TERRIBLE affects of moisture and UV. I'm
confused, can anyone help?
One more thing, what kind of wax is BEST...
