Pawnee bladder ground? by
[email protected]
Hey all. Removed sight gauge/filler cap assembly from Pawnee to change fuel bladder. It has a (ground?) wire hanging off it, looks like the terminal broke off the other end.
Parts catalog doesn't show this.
Anyone know where that end is supposed to attach? Bolts that hold the assembly on are all...

Why are side sticks unpopular in sailplanes by
J. Nieuwenhuize
Side sticks seem pretty popular in powered aircraft. Personally like them.
In sailplanes they have the additional advantage of allowing either a smaller cockpit (less drag) or more room. Diana, HP18 and several older designs have them.
Yet, they seem highly unpopular. Why would a well-designed...

S9
Hello all,
We have a municipal airport wanting our club to relocate to their airport. It is a good location and has both a paved runway and an excellent 150' wide grass runway. This location could be a good contest site and closer to the city than our current location. The club is considering...

Flight following for sailplane XC flights? by
Paul Villinski
Does anyone ever request flight following during long cross-country flights, in order to have ATC provide separation and keep an eye out? Or is this a ridiculous idea, especially given that you'd have to keep listening all afternoon? Would controllers provide radar service, or just have a good...

Schweizer SGS 2-33 Fatal Accidents? by
[email protected]
I read some of this discussion and it is all excellent. There are lots of viewpoints and lots of considerations.
One thing that was not mentioned was the difference between flying with an instructor, in a two-seater, and flying alone... in a single seater.
There is a big difference. With the...

I'll entertain offers if there's any takers...

S7 vario software update via oudie by
Pete Smith[_6_]
Anyone done this?
I copied 4 files from lxnav website to the SD card in my oudie.
Then watched uros' video but the button for s7 isn't on my oudie.
Do I need to connect the s7 for this to appear or have I done something
wrong?

Dr Jack forecast high too low by
[email protected]
It seems that for many months Dr Jack's forecast temperature is off by -4° F consistently, sometimes I've see it too low by 7°.
Has anyone else seen this bias?
Tomorrow it is forecast 3.7° lower than the other commercial forecasts
(69.3 vs 73). I've seen this happen in the observed high...

Can ADS-B provide position information for Search and Rescue? by
Paul Villinski
Wondering if ADS-B equipped aircraft have any advantage should they need search and rescue, given that they broadcast their ID and coordinates. Is positional information logged by the ground stations, and retained for any period of time, or is it "real-time" only? If retained, it seems that ADS-B...

Oudie starved for power by
Matt Herron Jr.
Help!
I run my Oudie from my V7 so that it gets all the flarm data from my Flarm Core. Unfortunately it tends to run out of battery power towards the end of the flight, even though the V7 is supplying juice.
I measure the current draw of the Oudie in this setup and it came in around 160ma. I...
