Frank Paynter[_2_]
I'm writing this from my home in Columbus, OH after starting from
Perry this morning about 6am. Last night featured a relaxing pizza
and beer dinner with the Tylers and some of us that decided to leave
Sunday morning instead of Saturday afternoon.
Day 4 at Perry dawned with heavy fog over the...

Glider for 15-Meter Nationals? by
noel.wade
All -
My plot to buy a 15-meter ship in time for this year's Nationals at
Logan, UT has been foiled.
I know its a stretch, but does anyone know of anybody who'd be willing
to rent a 15-meter ship in the UT/ID/OR/WA area? I've got a couple of
years of contest experience now, and did well at last...

No R5N contest reports? by
GM
Around 70 contestants on the roster for the R5N race at Perry, SC and
so far no contest report posted on the SSA web-site? C'on - what
gives?? There has to be at least one person capable of writing a short
summary about the tasks, weather and other stuff that typically goes
on for those that...

Day 3 at Perry by
Frank Paynter[_2_]
Our normal 10:30am pilots meeting was held this morning in a
torrential downpour - giving us a mild hint that today would be a no-
fly day. There were all sorts of options proposed for activities,
none of which involve glider assembly or flight. Tonight's activity
involves a pig roast and a Keg...

As of 3:30p, Gordon Boettger and Hugh Bennett flying a Duo Discus, are

Wanted - Water ballast adjustment Screw LS-3a by
[email protected]
In an effort to get "Big Ugly's" water ballast system working
correctly I was hoping one of you might have the dump adjustment screw
from the ballast rocker. I only need one and prefer not to spend 500
Euros on a service contract. This is for an LS-3a, but they are the
same on many LS's and I...

O 2 system check by
[email protected]
We're getting ready to re-install the oxygen system in an old LS-3
Do I understand correctly that the aluminum tank needs to be pressure
tested, (hydrostatic test) every 5 years? Is the an FAA rule, or
recommendation of the tank mfrg's...or just common practice for the
refilling people?

Day 2 at Perry (no task today) by
Frank Paynter[_2_]
I'm sitting in my micro-camper at about 3pm, after the day was called
here at Perry. A storm system was moving in from the southwest, with
major blow-ups visible on radar and visible satellite loops. At the
morning meeting it was decided to move the grid time up slightly to
see if a task could be...

Where is your CG with the tail dolly attached? by

I recently used SeeG to find out what would happen to my CG if I took
off with the tail dolly still attached, and I thought I would share my
results.
I fly a Ventus C, and I wanted to know if I would still be within
normal operating limits and would have enough elevator authority to
keep from...
