Soaring at Invermere, Canada by
Roy Clark
Am thinking about a soaring week+ with a soaring pal at Invermere next
season.
We both have FAI Gold C with 1-2 Diamonds.
Base my DG-300 at Ephrata, Wa, USA.
Have visited the Invermere website and have a Canada Calgary VFR
Navigation Chart that already has some "Wow!" and drool stain spots.

Downloadable sailplane maintenance manuals by
Bela
I am in the process of compiling a digital collection of all
fiberglass sailplane maintenance manuals.
So far I found a source only for the DG & LS sailplanes at the DG site
http://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de/handbuecher-e.html
I would appreciate URLs for other types, in english.

Gary Boggs
Thanks to R.A.S. I got a new 2-32 Flight-Erection manual from Schweizer
Aircraft Corporation, thanks. I would also like to get a copy of the Parts
and Maintenance Manual which is no longer available from Schweitzer. Would
anybody be willing to scan their copy and send it to me?

KOMET Trailer Cradle by
[email protected]
Having a wobbling problem with the cradle on my KOMET Trailer while
installing the wings on my glider.
Any experience or suggestion to fixing this annoying problem?
It causes excessive effort while installing the wings.

Self-launch takeoff performance from grass? by
Robert Davenport
I'm interested in knowing if anyone has any direct experience with the
increase in take-off run when launching a self-launch glider on grass? I'm
specifically interested in the performance of the Russia AC-5M, but would
enjoy hearing from anyone with grass-strip experience in any type...

Possible future legal problems with "SOARING" by
Bob Thompson
I tried to post this on the RAS earlier, but haven't seen it pop up, so =
thought I'd give it a 2nd try:
A feature article in the Durango Herald newspaper (Durango, Colorado) =
this morning (9/24/04) about a very pricey 5 star resort north of town, =
Tall Timber, really caught my attention:...

Mono wheel motorgliders by
Bob Babcock
Could I ask what operating the mono wheel motorgliders, such as the
Fournier RF-4, Ask-14, Europa, is like. I have not found much written
on ground handling and crosswind operation of these undercarriages.
I am interested in the systems with the small outriggers for self
launch operation.
It...

LS-6A Questions by
Jerz Rossignol
Hey guys,
I am wondering if any of you know the size of the O-ring for the
ballast connection that comes out of the wing of a LS-6A?
Also, my front air vent keeps opening up just enough to create a very
loud whistle when I get the glider going faster than 100 knots. It
gets quite annoying to keep...

new board in VL by
Keivn Anderson
Jim,
How much did the new board in the volkslogger cost you, and what was turn
around time like? I have been flying with one for several years having to
turn my squelch all the way up to keep from going nuts.
I would love to get that one from you, but the timing is not quite wright.

Pocket Nav NMEA sentences by
George B.
I'm trying to get a Compaq Aero 1530 with PocketNav to receive NMEA
output from a Colibri logger so that it can display the moving map.
When I tried it for the first time in flight the PocketNav message was
"No NMEA Data" and it went into simulator mode. Can anyone tell me
what sentences to select...

Grob 102 AD superseded by

From faa.gov - new AD 2004-17-04:

applies to all Grob-Werke Gmbh & Co KG (Grob) Models G102 CLUB ASTIR III,

In a nutshell:

FS Schweizer 1-23H15 by
Mackfly
It's listed in "Soaring" this month. Rare ole bird in good shape. Open trailer.
Climbs like crazy. Won't keep up with the glass ships on the run. Got my
Silver in her so she can't be all bad. Look for pics of her at
www.omahasoaring.net "Photo Album" section. She has no "bad" vices and...

SeeYou question by
Ted Wagner
Does anyone have any idea how SeeYou calculates the (ground) velocity at any
given fix in a flight?
I'm examining the take-off segment of one of my log files, and when I
calculate the velocity using the ubiquitous Great Circle algorithm from the
previous fix to the current fix, I get velocities...

filser by
Alan Detourtoulon
hi, if you are thinking of dealing with filser, don't.
Use an agent.
I bought a colibri from them, it arrived late, incomplete
and faulty.Eventually I asked for my money back and
they laughed. Fortunately their UK agent, john delafield
and colibri are both honest and efficient.

Fate of the Albatros by
iPilot
Some years ago interesting images about the new "gull winged" glider Albatros started circling the
web. It was one of the most interestign designs over long time and imho still is. Anyone knows the
fate of the program?

70K ft altitude record by
Mark James Boyd
So what happened to the 70K+ altitude record? I sure hope it
gets submitted to IGC. In order to deny the claim, they'll have to
assert that the recorded GPS altitude has some validity.
Once that door is opened there's an excellent, forced study of
just how valid it is if it's used as the basis...
