Quite, quite unlikely.
The foam used in sandwich core composite construction is closed-cell
foam that does not admit water beyond the first layer of cells. And
even that layer is sealed by the sandwich skin so...

Grob G103 canopy transparencies made in the USA by
Bob Kuykendall
I'm considering tooling up to make replacement canopy transparencies for existing sailplanes, or at least to have them made for me. I've seen a few requests for G103 canopies, so I thought I'd start there.
What I am thinking of is precision stretch-formed transparencies made over internal mandrels...

Where do main pin holes come from? by
Bob Kuykendall
Where do those big holes in the spars of composite gliders come from?
You know, the ones where they put the bushings that you insert the
main pins through?
Somebody with a big drill drills them.

Who got the Colorado DG-505? by

Just curious if anybody on this forum knows who won the salvage
bidding for the DG-505 that hit a fencepost in Colorado:

It's cool if nobody wants to fess up, I'm just curious.

O2 Cylinder Sizes - What are people using these days? by
Bob Kuykendall
I'm looking to develop a standard O2 cylinder installation for the
HP-24 sailplane kit, and I'm curious what size cylinders people
generally have installed these days.
These days a lot of folks seem to be using EDS systems which seem to
offer very good efficiency at turning pressurized gas into...

Mifflin - just a reminder about a great place to fly *anytime* by
Bob Lepp
Just got back from a week at Mifflin PA. What a kickstart to the
season! A half dozen Canadians were there, and a large group from the
Greater Boston Soaring Club. We all discussed having mixed feelings
about reminding you here in RAS that you all can fly *ANY* time at
Mifflin, since the busier it...

Glad you were able to get a copy of George Moffat's book, however,
soon that will be his first soaring book as he has just completed the
manuscript of a second extensively revised version. It should be out
of the printer (hopefully) by the SSA Convention. George says it will
be a different book,...

Blanik flying in the US by
Bob McKellar
I have asked to check out a rumor that there is an L-13 Blanik flying
legally in the US.
That doesn't sound right to me, as I think I would have heard of such a
thing from verifiable source.
Has anybody else heard such a rumor?

Blanik hull insurance by

If your grounded Blanik is insured for storage only, and a tree falls on it,
what kind of value would the insurance company use?
Would it be the market value pre grounding or the current scrap value?
