Collision Avoidance by K
I am going to be setting up a new (TO me) glider panel during our fast approaching off season. Standard category if it matters and two of the things on the list are PowerFlarm and a Transponder. From talking to some people (Suppliers and other pilots) there are a few who are doing either or, and...

Our gliding club has just taken delivery of a new-to-us Bellanca Scout 8GCBC however it did not have a towhook installed. Is there any info out there in the way of drawings, blueprints, photos or just good old advice which might be shared with us. Or is there an old towhook just sitting around...

Avoid head-on collision? Forward facing LED strobe? by son_of_flubber
So how many of us have flown along close to cloudbase under a cloud street, and suddenly seen another glider pass us on the opposite heading? It's obviously hard to see a glider that is coming straight at you. So what about a narrow beam LED strobe aligned with the glide path vector... would the...

Tilo Holighaus, the managing-director of Schempp-Hirth sailplanes in Germany and Andi Lutz, the brilliant young Austrian designer of the Quintus 23 meter wingspan sailplane, flew their Quinti from Uvalde to Marfa, Texas after the World Soaring Contest, staying (Andi is still here) for 10 days of...

Fiberglass glider repair in Southern California? by Roger Worden[_2_]
We have a club ship in need of major repair to the main landing gear. We know of a couple of potential repair people/shops but are looking for more leads. Can you provide any names or numbers? I searched RAS history and didn't find any previous discussions... maybe not searching for the right key...

Glider crow-hops: by J-Soar
I am a newly soloed student pilot, still flying the club's 2-seat trainer. I'll be moving to the club's single-seater soon. Then I hope to be allowed by my instructor to make solo flights in my own mid-performance sailplane that I bought before starting glider lessons. It was flown by advanced solo...

O2 System by K
I need to purchase an oxygen system for an ASW27 (licensed in the Standard Category if that matters). Of course I will probably go with a Mountain High system so my main question is about the tank and the plumbing. My last system on my last ship used a huge steel bottle that was so big it would...

PowerFLarm expected range by [email protected]
So I've got my new PowerFlarm brick installed and I'd guess that it was losing the other PowerFlarm in the area when the distance between us was between 2 to 2.5 miles. Obviously this is good for collision avoidance, but I was kind of hoping for more range. The other pilot reported similar range....

carousel hangars by Peter Gray
In 1998 Ned Godshall published a description of a carousal hangar built by the Alberquerque Sooaring Club. Said to be on the site of the South-West Soaring Museum at Moriarty. Does anyone out there know of it? Does it still function? Are there any drawings available? did it throw up any snags? did...
