Purchase pre-inspection, A&P, A&P AI, annual expired, and towing the rig by
LoftusRoadLad
Sticking my toe in the "buy a glider" conundrum.
I'm definitely not confident enough to go somewhere--many many miles away: I live in the northern part of Virginia--and look over a glider and trailer rig and determine whether or not to go all in.
So, how would I go about getting in touch with an...

Glider Purchase Procedure - Annual & Pre Purchase Inspection? by
NMD
Hello,
I am closing in on my first glider purchase and have narrowed it down to three.
What is a safe purchase procedure for an older glider? Two are LS3's and one is an LS3A. All have been refinished in PU.
Is a new annual sufficient or it is advisable to have a pre-purchase inspection as...

Flarm Target direction by
Anton Lawrence
Earlier in the year I had a close call, the Flarm was going off with multiple targets most of which I could visually identify. One I did not see, we both had to turn sharply left to avoid a straight on collision.
Apparently Flarm calculates the potential collision taking into account all...

Are areas of sink modeled well in Condor2? by
Charles Ethridge
Question for those of you who fly with Oudie and Condor2:
While sink near thermals seem to be modeled well in Condor2, some people in our club do not think that Condor models areas of sink outside of thermals (between clouds) very well.
In other words, when they fly cross-country in real life...

Replacing aging club Grobs...best options? by
[email protected]
Hello all! I am trying to gather information on replacement options for my club's aging Grobs. So far I have reached out to SZD for the SZD-54-2 (probably not a factor with no US certification or dealer), the HpH Twin Shark, Shempp-Hirth Duo Discus XL, Schleicher for the ASK-21B and DG for the...

Golf Cart Starter Burn Out by
George Haeh
We replaced the starter last September and the new one died last weekend.
It's covered by warranty, but the technician says the brushes were worn out and it was abused.
Is there something we should, or should not, be doing when pulling gliders with a golf cart?

Oudie/Flarm alarm from my own ADS-B/Transponder by
Richard Livingston[_2_]
I recently installed a Trig TT22 transponder in our LS6. Today I got to fly it for the first time and I was getting constant conflict alarms on my Oudie about traffic at (for e.g.) my "6 O'Clock and 35ft above me" The only way I could figure out how to silence these alarms was to set my...

Wanted PW-5 instrument panel by
Mark Zivley[_3_]
Greetings,
Looking for the top part of a PW-5 instrument panel. Don't need the pedestal base. Want to make some changes to mine, but would rather cut new holes in a "spare" panel.
Thanks,
Mark

Polar for 304C? by
Moshe Braner
Does anybody have a polar for the HPH 304C - the model with 15m
unflapped wings? Either a graph or just some numbers will do. The
"Glasflugel 304" polar built into XCsoar (span not specified) seems
wrong (STF too high, much higher than, e.g., LS4). The "304CZ" built-in
polar also calls for a...

Newby questions about the GLASFLUGEL H 201 STANDARD LIBELLE by
LoftusRoadLad
New to gliding (won't say "soaring" since I haven't been accused of doing much of that) and was interested in buying a forgiving starter glider. I've flown the 1-26 extensively but would like a bit more performance--feel like I'm stuck at the field.
I've seen the 201 on Wings and Wheels. I've read...

BRSS Boomerang Trophy Update by
Piet Barber
The Blue Ridge Soaring Society's Boomerang trophy has moved.
The Boomerang has been at Front Royal, VA for nearly two years, but was retrieved by Chris Zaboji (pronounced Zah-BOY-ee). Chris performed the cross-country glider flight of 144 statute miles in about 4 and a half hours over some pretty...
